Hoya alumnus, head coach and Pro Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing called the Novas "the class of the conference" and beating them was a "huge step" for the program. On Friday night, Georgetown defeated fifth-seeded Seton Hall 66-58 to advance to its first Big East championship game in 11 years.

The key to Georgetown's success? Versatility. In each of the three games, the team has used different scorers. Javon Blair scored 20 against Marquette, freshman Dante Harris scored 18 against Nova, and Jamco Pickett scored 19 against Seton Hall.

Clayton entered the tournament as the second seed and enjoyed a first-round bye before defeating Butler 87-56 in the quarterfinals. Then, in the semifinals against UConn, things got real for the Blue Jays. Clayton shot 10% below average against the Huskies and was down by five with less than six minutes remaining. However, a layup by Marcus Zegarowski sparked a 9-0 run that kept UConn at bay the rest of the way to advance to their third Big East Championship game.

Creighton and Georgetown were the first time the No. 2 and No. 8 seeds faced off in the Big East title game. The two teams have met twice this season in head-to-head action, with the road team winning both times. Clayton is an 8-point favorite against Georgetown, with the over/under at 114.5.
