It's Time to See President Biden's First Primetime Speech Tonight, President Joe Biden will deliver a speech commemorating the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus shutdown and outlining the administration's next steps in the fight against Covid. Hours before the speech, we learned that President Biden plans to announce that all adults in the United States will be eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine beginning May 1, 2021.

This will be President Biden's first primetime presidential address, which will be broadcast on all major news channels and streamed online on many news sites. He said, "Tomorrow night, I will deliver a prime-time address to the American people.

"I will begin the next phase of the COVID response and explain what we will do as a government and what we will ask of the American people."

One year ago, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Then-President Donald Trump announced a travel ban from Europe in a prime-time address. That same day, the NBA suspended its season after Rudy Gobert tested positive for Covid and actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson also tested positive. [Since then, more than 29 million Americans have been diagnosed with covid and more than 500,000 have died from the disease. In the last month, the number of cases has declined as more people have been vaccinated with one of the three vaccines being distributed.

The speech came as Congress passed a $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus package that Biden is scheduled to sign Friday.
