Punky Power Returns Peacock TV's "Punky Brewster" reboot is the sequel series to the popular 80s sitcom. Soleil Moon Frye returns as the grown-up protagonist and Shelly Johnson as Punky's best friend.

In the reboot version, Punky is a professional photographer like her adoptive father Henry (the late George Gaines). She has just divorced her ex-husband, musician Travis (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and they have three children. And Punky emulates his father by taking in a foster child named Izzy.

Like young Punky, Izzy is sassy, outspoken, and independent. But like Henry, Punky is willing to open his heart and his home.

The original Punky Brewster aired on NBC from 1984 to 1986 and then in syndication from 1987 to 1988. The sitcom became well known for special episodes that tackled dark topics such as the Challenger explosion and the dangers of old refrigerators.
