The OnePlus9Lite specification has just been leaked and it's pretty insulting

Many rumors are telling us about a third phone that will launch next month with the OnePlus 9 series; it may be called the OnePlus 9 Lite, it may be called the OnePlus 9E, but whatever the name, a new leak has revealed all of its specs The new leak may have revealed all of its specs.

Greek site Techmaniacs is giving details of a lower-priced OnePlus 9 device, but some of these specs sound more like the new OnePlus Nord than some sort of flagship Lite model.

Techmaniacs claims the phone will have 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 5,000 mAH battery, and a 64 megapixel camera. So far, all looks good. It is also said to have a 6.5-inch 90 Hz display with full HD resolution, all of which is very standard for OnePlus these days. However, it is said to run on a Snapdragon 690 processor.

The 690 is a downgrade, as the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are expected to feature the flagship Snapdragon 888 chip. While this chip may have 5G connectivity, the 600 series is designed for budget and mid-range smartphones. In fact, it is the same chipset used in the OnePlus Nord N10, which was introduced last October.

On the other hand, past rumors about the OnePlus 9 Lite have suggested that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset. 865 is older and less powerful than the 888, but it is still the chip set found in most flagship phones in 2020 It's a set. Holding out to save cash is not such a terrible compromise. The same cannot be said for the 690.

Techmaniacs seems to have gotten their wires crossed and confused the OnePlus 9 Lite with the upcoming OnePlus Nord. We know that more Nords are on the way, and devices with the 690 will sit comfortably alongside other mid-range Nord devices already on the market.

The 8GB of RAM is a step up from the Nord devices we have seen so far, but the rest of the features seem very similar to the Nord N10.

I am skeptical about this particular leak and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Because a Snapdragon 690 in a flagship-centric device is pretty hard to believe, and frankly, it is insulting that OnePlus would try to sell such a device under the OnePlus 9 brand.

Rumor has it that the OnePlus 9 series will be available sometime in March, so we won't have to wait too long to find out what is really going on.
