Forget Galaxy Note21: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 Leak Reveals Support for S Pen

The latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 rumors confirm exciting new features for Samsung's upcoming foldable. However, it bodes poorly for the company's other flagship smartphone.

When the Z Fold 3 launches in the third quarter of this year, ETNews reports that it will support stylus; S Pen support is huge, as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first foldable phone to support a stylus. [The foldable phone's large built-in display is ideal for using a stylus for taking notes and drawing. But this is difficult to achieve because, as ETNews writes, the phone's screen must be flexible enough to bend, but tough enough to withstand the pressure of the stylus. The screen also needs a flexible digitizer (a sub-display component that recognizes stylus input).

Samsung has already added S Pen support to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, although the $1,199 phone does not ship with a stylus. Instead, Samsung offers the stylus as an accessory for the Galaxy S21 and bundles it with certain cases. Samsung could do the same with the Z Fold 3, but given the Z Fold 3's expected price of $2,000, we expect the S Pen to be included as standard.

According to the latest tweet from leaker Ice Universe, the Z Fold 3 is expected to be both foldable and a pseudo-Galaxy Note as a result.

Late last year, Samsung's TM Roh said that the handset maker plans to bring "some of the most beloved features" of the Galaxy Note to other devices in our lineup; S Pen support is an obvious choice, but there are other features the Z Fold 3 can borrow from the Note series There are other features that can be. [The Z Fold 2's photography capabilities were disappointing compared to the S21 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Samsung's top-of-the-line 108MP main camera and a better telephoto sensor (if not two like the S21 Ultra) would go a long way toward improving the photography potential of this expensive device.

In terms of rival folding handsets, Samsung needs to up its game, especially in photography. Huawei's recently unveiled Mate X2 offers a nearly identical camera array to Huawei's standard flagship phones, including a pair of telephoto cameras. Huawei's ability to compete with Samsung is hampered by U.S. government sanctions, but Samsung would be foolish not to respond with a better photography setup in the Z Fold 3.

Ice Universe's phrase "a collection of cutting-edge technologies" makes one wonder what else Samsung has planned for its next-generation foldable. Some rumors claim that the Z Fold 3 will see Samsung's first under-display selfie camera, which definitely fits IU's description.

Another Samsung phone with stylus support would be bad news for the Galaxy Note series, which dominated stylus-enabled premium phones until the arrival of the S21 Ultra. There are now rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 will be released in 2021, but the future of the Note series seems to be threatened by the expanded range of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is already at the top when it comes to best foldable phones, but it has not appeared in the overall rankings of best Android phones or best phones overall. incorporating the best parts of the Galaxy Note would be a great way for Samsung to make the Z Fold 3 a may be what it takes to make it a must-have phone.
