Event to open and discover the box of Big Samsung teases the future of TV with MicroLED

As Samsung continues to adapt to a world without in-person product launch events like TVs, a steady stream of announcements and virtual events are being announced. The upcoming March 2 event is called "Unbox and Discover" and will be streamed live on Samsung's website and YouTube.

The invitation does not give details, but it does say "Unbox new screens inspired by you. Discover new ways to enjoy your lifestyle."

Samsung's news release gives a bit more notice." Samsung shares its vision of how its latest innovative products will redefine the role of the TV through cutting-edge technology, beautiful design, and impactful partnerships."

The March 2 event is called Unbox and Discover, an obvious reference to Samsung Unpacked, an event focused on Samsung's Galaxy phones and tablets. If it follows a similar format, we can expect to see not only the latest TVs on display, but also a lot of new information about TV technologies that Samsung plans to introduce in 2021, such as micro-LEDs and NeoQLEDs.

Other than that, Samsung TVs feature a variety of features and improvements each year, and we expect to learn more about many of these smart features and audio-visual enhancements.

Given the focus on screens, this will likely be a show about TVs, but Samsung's office and gaming monitors are also likely to make an appearance. There will also likely be products adjacent to TVs, such as Samsung's new soundbar.

Given the reference to lifestyle in the invitation, there could be an increased focus on Samsung's lifestyle TVs (design-focused models such as The Frame, The Serif, and the mobile-focused rotating Sero TV).

But even with standard models like the 8K and 4K Neo QLED lineups, there is still much we don't know. Sure, there have been official announcements, pre-order lists, and unofficial leaks of model numbers, but Samsung definitely has more in store, including improved smart TV software, better video processing, and additional fitness and social features.

Whatever is announced on March 2, expect to learn a lot about Samsung's latest TV technology and its 2021 smart TV lineup.
