If the new rumors turn out to be true, the iPhone 13 may include a much-loved Android feature: Always-On Display (AOD), which, as the name implies, displays important information with low power consumption. It allows users to check the time, the number of missed calls and texts, and other information without having to turn the display on completely.

The rumor comes from Max Weinbach of EverythingApplePro. He believes Apple's version of AOD will be a "toned-down lock screen."

Weinbach explains that it will be minimally customizable and will display notifications with bars and icons. Notifications would pop up as usual, but the screen would not light up in sequence. Instead, the display will appear similar to the current one.

While this certainly sounds interesting, it is a bit difficult to conceptualize from a verbal description alone. However, thanks to YouTuber A Better Computer, we now have a better picture of what an always-on implementation might actually look like. It shows what the always-on screen will look like when completed.

Weinbach seems to think that AOD's iPhone 13 version will take a much more minimalist approach than its Android brethren. However, as evidenced by A Better Computer's mockup, Apple may be trying to make up for lost time by adopting a bolder strategy going forward.

While certainly an interesting concept, Apple has yet to make any kind of confirmation or announcement as to what the iPhone 13 will do in regards to AOD, or the camera below the display.

There is still plenty of time left before we start seeing specifics about what the new iPhone will tackle in terms of new features. However, if these concept designs and predictions are correct, we should see an impressive iPhone in the coming months.
