A major leak of the iPhone 13 reveals an always-on display, design changes, and some smart new shooting modes.

The ability to see the time and notifications without having to pick up the phone is common on Android devices, but would be a first for the iPhone. We can also expect some welcome design upgrades, with Apple widening its lead in our Best Camera Phones list.

There is some interesting information from the latest video released by YouTuber EverythingApplePro and leaker Max Weinbach. The juiciest leak, however, is the always-on display.

The display appears to be a simplified lock screen, and like the one on the Apple Watch 6, it shows the clock and battery life at all times and offers some fine customization options.

To conserve battery life, notifications only activate the portion of the screen where the alert pops up, and only for a short time before turning off again.

Weinbach also stated that the iPhone 13 Pro model could feature an LTPO 120Hz display like Samsung's Galaxy S21. However, this is a rumor we have already heard from several reliable sources.

Some camera upgrades are also expected. The main hardware change is an improved ultra-wide camera on all models. This is thanks to a new sensor, plus a six-element lens (up from five), which will allow for less distortion.

Apple plans to introduce a dedicated astrophotography mode in the camera app itself. Just as night mode is enabled when in a dark place, this mode will be enabled when the phone is pointed at the stars or the moon, allowing for a more detailed record of the night sky.

The final new feature revealed by EverythingApplePro is the Portrait Video mode. When enabled, this will result in a blurred background in the video footage, but will allow you to customize the depth of field after the shot is taken so you can get it just right. There is no specific explanation as to whether this will work with all iPhone 13 cameras or just some of them.

It is widely believed that this year's iPhone is only a minor upgrade to the iPhone 12, which would bring back the flat side design. However, according to EverythingApplePro, there are some differences.

Some models will have a new matte back with a "slightly grippy texture" comparable to the back of the Google Pixel 5. iPhone 12 Pro has a matte back, while the basic iPhone 12 has a glossy finish, so this refers to the Pro model This is likely to be the case, but Apple may change this.

Under the surface of the next iPhone, Apple will replace the current MagSafe magnet with a stronger one, making it easier to attach MagSafe chargers and accessories. everythingApplePro reports that Japan's MacOtakara claims that these new magnets will not affect the thickness of the phone, despite stating that there will be a slight increase in thickness due to the new magnets

The video also mentions several other Apple accessories: the AirTags tracker will finally arrive in March or April, and the associated software has already been rolled out. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch 7's mental health tracking feature is expected to be released as early as 2022.
