Kevin Hart has already had a string of hits on Netflix, and several of his standup specials have been well received by subscribers. Now he has joined the ranks of Netflix's No. 1 films.

"The Man from Toronto" just topped Netflix's most-watched list, a high-octane action comedy from Hart and Woody Harrelson.

The quirky film centers on a case of mistaken identity, as failed entrepreneur Teddy (Kevin Hart) is forced to pose as a deadly hit man after stumbling upon a crime scene. Soon after, he is recruited by the FBI to catch the real hit man, and Teddy must continue his scheming to survive.

There is just one problem. The real "Man from Toronto" (Woody Harrelson) is not particularly happy about being impersonated by someone else and soon tries to track down the imposter. When the notorious hit man catches up to Teddy, the two realize that working together is the best option for survival.

The film is in the same vein as 2017's "The Hitman's Bodyguard" (both films are directed by the same director, Patrick Hughes) and will appeal to fans of 2016's "Central Intelligence," which also starred Hart.

Kaley Cuoco, best known for her starring roles in "The Big Bang Theory" and "Flight Attendant," also appears in the film, as do Jasmine Matthews, Lela Loren, Pearson Fode, Jencarlos Canela, and Ellen Barkin.

"The Man from Toronto" was just released last Friday (June 24), but has already surged to No. 1, overtaking recent Netflix films like "Spiderhead" and "Hustle." Kevin Hart is immensely popular, and his action comedies are often hits on Netflix. Evidence of this can be seen in last year's Red Notice.

While the film has enjoyed strong ratings, it has not received as warm a reception from critics; "The Man from Toronto" (opens in new tab) currently scores only 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, while "The Daily Beast (opens in new tab) calls it "horribly unfunny," and the Chicago Sun-Times (opens in new tab) claims that it is "a waste of Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart's talent." However, Variety and the San Francisco Chronicle gave the film a somewhat more favorable review.

The disagreement between viewers and critics over a film is certainly nothing new, and it is doubly so with regard to Netflix films. The not-so-great review score for "The Man from Toronto" clearly hasn't hurt the film's success on the streaming platform, and it's likely to remain on Netflix's most-watched list for at least the next few weeks.
