Obi-Wan and Boba-Fett book please. Andor is my most anticipated Star Wars show of the year. Why? Because this Star Wars series actually focuses on ordinary people in a galaxy far, far away.

Sure, there's Cassian Andor, the soon-to-be Rebel pilot, Mon Mothma, the politician, and Saw Gerrera, the radical. But on the whole, this kind of show is still rare for Star Wars. No bounty hunters, no Jedi. There has to be something there.

But that seems to be the whole point of Tony Gilroy's Andor. To show that rebellions don't always start with fancy people. But instead, people are driven to change their own lives.

Nevertheless, Andor does not exist in a self-contained vacuum. Rather, he appears at a pivotal moment in Star Wars history. So here are five things you should know about Andor, from his characters to his historical background.

Andor is considered a prequel that gives us a look at Cassian Andor and the other Rebels before the Rebel Alliance was officially formed, but it falls in the middle of the Star Wars timeline. [Star Wars: Andor is a two-season show that takes place five years before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, just before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Those five years are 5-0 BBY (before the Battle of Yavin).

In other words, Andor takes place four years after the previous film in the Disney Plus Star Wars series, Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. I point this out because the story of the growing rebellion is also the story of "Obi-Wan Kenobi," which introduced "The Path," a group that helps Jedi and Force-sensitive individuals escape Order 66 attacks.

Of course, Andor's cast list begins with Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), whom we met in "Rogue One."

Next on the list is Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), a politician in the Galactic Senate. During the Clone Wars, she worked with Bail Organa and Padme Amidala to try to broker a peace between the Galactic Republic and the Federation of Independent Star Systems.

And Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) has appeared in Rogue One and many of the Star Wars cartoons. Saw, seen by some as a militant, is an Onderonian resistance fighter forever changed by the death of his sister Stila.

Luten Rael (Stellan Skarsgard) is a new character and a growing, if not full-fledged, rebel leader. He appears in new trailers and clips as the person who enlists Andor to rebel against the Empire.

Other character details are revealed from the leaked production synopsis (opens in new tab). Marva (Fiona Shaw) is Cassian Andor's adoptive mother. Bix Carine (Adria Arjona) is a hardworking mechanic who has been in a situation with Cassian for years that is considered "complicated". Cyril Khan (Kyle Soler) is a villain who the actor told D23 is the latest in a "history of hateful villains."

And as seen in the Andor trailer, Ebon Moss-Backlash plays an unknown character.

You can watch all the Star Wars films in order on Disney Plus, and you may want to stream some of them before watching them. The films to watch are obviously the main films: Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, and Episode 4: A New Hope.

"Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith" shows how the rise of the Galactic Empire has made things worse.

"Rogue One" depicts Cassian Andor's final mission.

"Episode 4: A New Hope" depicts how the Rebels used Andor's hardships to fight the Empire.

Of course, we can also track Saw Gerrera's early appearances in Clone Wars: The Battle of Two Fronts (S05E02), Front Runners (S05E03), Soft War (S05E04) and The Tipping Point (S05E05). He also appears in the first episode of The Bad Batch.

Other characters from the Star Wars animated show may appear, but the episode count is too large to narrow down.

Andor will consist of at least two seasons and 12 episodes.

At one point, Andor was supposed to be a five-season show, but according to cinematographer Adriano Goldman (open in new tab), it is now likely to last three seasons. Tony Gilroy (open in new tab) said that the original plan was not "physically impossible" due to the size of the series.

He says he doesn't need to deal with the chatter of the watermen. He does not want to pay for three months of Disney Plus.

Those who want to watch Andor all at once will have to wait until just before Thanksgiving. After the first three episodes of Andor premiere on Wednesday (Sept. 21), the next nine episodes will be released one at a time the following Wednesday, concluding on Nov. 23.
