OnePlus11 has just been tipped for 3 huge upgrades including ceramic design

We've already heard directly from OnePlus itself that the OnePlus 11 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset (opens in new tab), but according to a reliable tipster, that's just scratching the surface of what we can expect from the company's next flagship smartphone.

If reliable leaker Digital Chat Station (opens in new tab) is to be believed, the OnePlus 11 will benefit from three major upgrades.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has 12GB of memory and is hardly underpowered in the RAM department, but the OnePlus 11 will apparently up this to 16GB. This would put it in line with Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra (oddly, not the S22 Ultra, which has up to 12GB) and the OnePlus 10T.

An upgrade to UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 4.0 is also being considered. This would make the OnePlus 11 one of the first phones to feature UFS 4.0, which should greatly improve both speed and efficiency.

UFS 3.1 has a read speed of up to 2,100 MB/s and write speed of up to 1,200 MB/s, but UFS 4.0 improves them to 4,200 MB/s and 2,800 MB/s, respectively. Speeds per lane also reached 23.2 Gbps, double the speed of the previous generation. Efficiency is also improved by 46%, and battery life is improved.

Finally, according to Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 11 will feature a ceramic-body metal frame, which OnePlus used in 2015's OnePlus X and last year's OnePlus 10 Pro special editions.

However, this last information is disputed. Max Jambor, a well-informed source, said on Twitter that a ceramic body will not happen after all. However, he supported the UFS 4.0 claim.

Speaking of Jambor, the leaker also has a very good explanation as to why these premium-sounding updates are headed to the OnePlus 11 instead of the OnePlus 11 Pro.

It may be confusing in the short term, but if any company needs a simpler smartphone lineup, it's OnePlus; in 2022, there was no basic OnePlus 10, but OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus 10 T, OnePlus Nord 2T, and OnePlus Nord CE 2.

A streamlined lineup may reduce consumer choice, but it will certainly make things less confusing in 2023.
