Samsung's Galaxy S23 series may see an overall improvement in display brightness, according to WinFuture leaker and journalist Roland Quandt (opens in new tab).

Quandt tells us that the brightness of all three Galaxy S23 models will be 1,750 nits, a significant improvement over the Galaxy S22 series. In our tests, the brightest brightness measured on the current Samsung flagship displays was 1,326 nits on the Galaxy S22 Plus.

The maximum brightness of 1,750 nits would surpass not only the current Galaxy S22 model, but also the Google Pixel 7 Pro, another top pick for the best Android phone. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro Max achieved 1,565 nits, setting a benchmark that Samsung hopes to beat with the Galaxy S23 series.

Screen brightness is an important spec to consider if the phone is often used outdoors or in brightly lit environments. Therefore, if Samsung were to upgrade the brightness of its three new models, it would be a practical upgrade that could once again solidify its position as the company with the best smartphone screens in the industry.

There are no other major display upgrade rumors for the Galaxy S23 series, but overall there are some important upgrades to keep an eye on: a 200MP main camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, a 12MP selfie camera on all three S23 models and a new custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset provides the brains.

The next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked presentation will take place a week later on February 1, and Samsung has casually hinted that new phones will be available at this event.
