I tried this ice Cube hack to remove carpet dents in 3 steps - and it actually works

It's always frustrating to find dents in a plush carpet or rug after rearranging the furniture. These unsightly dents are often created when heavy furniture such as sofas, coffee tables, or chairs are placed on them, and they can detract from the overall aesthetic.

The good news is that carpet dents are not permanent and can be fixed in a slightly different way. This trick involves a simple household item: ice cubes. Yes, you heard right! Ice is a quick fix to the carpet dent problem. This is especially useful when you have to move out of a rented apartment or want to decorate your rental property without annoying the landlord.

Best of all, you don't have to buy expensive tools and products to get your carpet back to its best condition. So, if you want the easy way out, here's what I did when I tried this ice cube hack to get dents out of my carpet.

1. First, place a large piece of ice over the dent in the carpet. Depending on the size of the dent, you may need to use two or three pieces of ice.

Indeed, I have no carpet in my house except on the stairs and landing. Therefore, to make this trick work, I placed a heavy stool on the carpet for a few hours and left it there until the dent was clearly visible.

2. Next, leave the ice until it melts completely. Depending on the room temperature, this can take from one to two hours. Once melted, wipe off excess water with a sponge. If the area is large, use a dish towel to absorb the water and prevent it from spreading.

3. Here comes the difficult part. To return the fibers to their original shape, gently lift the compressed carpet threads with a spoon or coin. This may take some time (and patience!) . However, the carpet will appear to be even, with no more dents.

The idea is that as the ice melts into the dents in the carpet, the fibers absorb the water and float away. Once the water is absorbed, the compressed fibers would naturally expand and return to their original shape. Who would have known?

Of course, if you find that the ice cube trick doesn't work on your carpet dents, you can always hire a professional carpet cleaner. However, if your carpet is more than 10 years old, we recommend replacing it. Either way, at least you know an easy and convenient solution to eliminate unsightly carpet dents and make it look as good as new!
