Samsung QN900C Neo QLED8K TV Hands-on Review: This is great

The Samsung QN900C Neo QLED 8K TV promises to be the best product Samsung's mini LED TV lineup will offer in 2023. With its sleek design and 7680 x 4320 pixel resolution, it offers a premium viewing experience on a large screen.

How big is it? The Samsung QN900C Neo QLED 8K TV is a 98-inch configuration, and this size has only been seen on last year's Samsung QN100B Neo QLED TV.

We went hands-on with the QN900C just before Samsung announced its price and availability. That information, along with our first impressions and initial test data on the QN900C, which may be the best 8K TV of the year, is included below.

The Samsung QN900C Neo QLED 8K TV will be available through retailers starting February 2023 in 75-inch and 65-inch configurations. Samsung has not yet announced the availability of the 98-inch size. [The 75-inch configuration we tested costs $6,299, about $2,000 more than the same size of the Samsung QN95C Neo QLED TV, the company's top 4K mini LED TV this year.

At first glance, the QN900C looks like a hybrid of other Samsung 2023 TVs. With its sleek finish and seemingly bezel-less design, it looks like the company's 4K mini LED TVs, but it uses the One Connect box found on Samsung S95C OLED TVs.

The One Connect box was also found on last year's QN95B Neo QLED TV, but is now found only on Samsung's OLED and 8K QLED models. the One Connect box essentially offloads the ports into a removable box that can be used to connect to the TV's USB port, help with cable management. If the TV is wall-mounted, the box is stored in a console or other convenient location for access to the ports.

Speaking of ports, the Samsung QN900C Neo QLED 8K TV has four HDMI 2.1 inputs that support features such as variable refresh rate (VRR), automatic low-latency mode (AALM), and extended audio return channel (eARC) for sound bars

Samsun has a built-in audio output.

Samsung promises some performance improvements for the Samsung QN900C Neo QLED TV, which should be an upgrade from last year's QN900B model.

From what we've seen, accuracy and picture quality are quite surreal. We noticed refinement even in scenes with a lot of contrasty colors. Furthermore, off-angle viewing is top-notch.

What really stands out with the QN900C, however, is brightness. In our first lab test, we measured a peak brightness of 2433.6 nits at a 10% window.

While 8K content is not yet abundant, this TV is equipped with the Neural Quantum Processor 8K, which should be able to upscale content to 8K picture quality. That said, this scale is best enjoyed on a larger screen. We would recommend the 75-inch 8K TV over the 65-inch TV model, as the 8K image quality is much better than that of the 65-inch model.

As for sound quality, the Samsung QN900C features Q Symphony 3.0, which has been updated to combine the TV's native speakers with a soundbar. It uses a new neural network to determine what enhancements are needed to the soundbar, which should result in a more refined soundscape overall.

If you have your heart set on a new 8K TV, the Samsung QN900C Neo QLED 8K TV will be a tough sell. While the price tag may put it out of reach for some users, the premium performance may be worth upgrading your current entertainment setup.

This TV needs to be tested for an extended period of time before a star rating and formal recommendation can be made.
