Netflix updates my list with long requested features - Trying to get easy to pick what to watch

Netflix is upgrading its My Lists feature to help users categorize their bookmarked TV shows and movies and find new ones more easily.

Starting Monday (May 22), Netflix users will be able to sort their watch lists into many categories. For starters, they will be able to sort by content type, allowing them to watch only the TV shows and movies on their list. They can also choose new filters, such as "Started" or "Haven't Started," to display the list in the order in which content was added. Additionally, you can view the listings alphabetically or rank them by date of publication.

If you are constantly adding to your list, these new filter options will make it considerably easier to sort through all the TV shows and movies you have sworn to watch. The ability to filter your My List should also ease the decision-making difficulties that Netflix faces.

Another small but useful upgrade is that you can now swipe directly on the title card to remove a film from your watch list. Previously, one had to go to the individual landing page for each TV show or movie to find the option to remove it from the list, but thanks to this update, this process has been streamlined.

The update will first roll out on Android, and a Netflix spokesperson told The Verge that it will be coming to iOS in the "coming weeks." Unfortunately, it has not yet been confirmed whether these useful new features will be available for the various Netflix apps elsewhere, such as smart TVs and game consoles. However, we can expect them to eventually appear wherever Netflix can be viewed.

My Lists was first launched in 2013 to allow Netflix subscribers to curate their own watch lists by bookmarking shows and movies to watch at a later date. Until now, however, few options existed for viewing My Lists other than scrolling through the entire list.

Fortunately, this update makes it much easier to manage your watchlist and spend more time actually watching Netflix content.
