The need for films like "Superbad" continues well past its 2007 release. In this film, Seth (Jonah Hill), Evan (Michael Cera), and Vogel (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) are determined to have one last big party before they graduate high school and go off to college. Naturally, things don't go as planned. Laughter ensues. And then we learned the name "McLovin."

But the film is not simply about "boys being boys." Superbad is very funny, but it also shows genuine, touching, affection between the main characters and the importance of male friendship. It is this mix that makes the film a classic.

James Franco (playing himself) hosts a party full of celebrities, and Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill are also invited. Not only did the same screenwriters who wrote "Superbad" write "This is the End," but Michael Cera and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also star in the film, giving very funny and self-deprecating performances. There is much in this film to attract "Superbad" fans. It would be too long to list the stars in the film, but Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, and even Emma Watson embrace the film's ridiculous premise.

The friends (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis) wake up in Las Vegas after a bachelor party. With the wedding clock ticking, they must run around the city trying to find the groom in time. Of course, this is not a simple task. There are many "Superbad" moments. Rather, it feels like something that might happen when the guys in "Superbad" grow up and go to a bachelor party.

"The Hangover" captivated audiences with engaging performances from its stars, including Cooper's confident performance, which contrasts nicely with Helms' nervousness and Galifianakis' aloofness. The Hangover is a classic, and if you enjoyed the original, there is a sequel.

The 2010 film is based on the comic book by Brian Lee O'Malley. Scott (Michael Cera) is going to fight Ramona's evil exes in order to date Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). However, you don't have to have read the original to enjoy watching this film adaptation. It has plenty of retro video game and comic book atmosphere, and all the elements I liked about "Superbad" are present.

What you should know about Scott Pilgrim is that it features a stellar cast, including Kieran Culkin, Brie Larson, and Anna Kendrick. Like "Superbad," "Scott Pilgrim" is full of hilarious one-liners and scenes of teenage boys screwing up big time.

Like "Superbad," "American Pie" is a classic. Four best friends from high school (Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Sean William Scott) vow to lose their virginity before graduation and go to embarrassing lengths to make it happen. As in "Superbad," the central characters are neither cool nor charming, but they do have a (mostly) lovable side.

"American Pie" is a bit gross, hilarious, and funny, and is the basis for many of the high school movie tropes found in "Superbad." However, the boys never steal the show, as Alyson Hannigan leads a group of strong female characters. [Molly (Beanie Feldstein) and Amy (Caitlin Dever) have worked hard through high school, only to find that their impending graduation marks the end of an era. And so begins a night of partying gone awry, as in "Superbad". There is laughter, female solidarity, and gross-outs. By the end of the night, you'll be rooting for the normally well-behaved girls as they struggle to make it to their graduation ceremony.

"Book Smart" is "Superbad" itself, but the girls are the stars. There are various scenes that feel like homages to the older films. However, unlike many other films of this kind, it retains its originality, perhaps because the protagonist is a woman. Cameo appearances by Lisa Kudrow, the icon of "Friends," Jason Sudeikis, the star of "Ted Russow," and Jessica Williams of "Shrinking" are also excellent.

When Lillian (Maya Rudolph) asks Annie (Kristen Wiig) to be her bridesmaid, she is completely unprepared for what follows. Annie is reminded that her life is not as perfect as her best friend thinks it is. Things don't get any better when she meets the other bridesmaids and the sophisticated Helen (Rose Byrne) tries to take over. Although the characters are older than in "Superbad," "Bridesmaids" is similarly a comedic look at friendship and the transition to the next stage of life. It is a brilliant portrayal of how long-term female friendships can withstand jealousy and the toughest of situations.

Judd Apatow was a producer on both "Superbands" and "Bridesmaids." Both are iconic, funny, and have a lot of pretty disgusting scenes. The cast of Bridesmaids is also full of comedy superstars, with Melissa McCarthy, Rebel Wilson, Matt Lucas, Terry Crews, and Jon Hamm all playing roles of varying degrees of importance. McCarthy's all-action performance is particularly funny.

"Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle", like "Superbad", is the story of male friends who don't know how to talk to women. However, their goals are different. As the title suggests, Harold and Kumar (John Cho and Kal Penn) just want to eat a small, unique hamburger sold at a restaurant in White Castle, not too far away. Along the way, they encounter various mishaps, most of which are their fault.

If male friendship is what drew you to "Superbad," then this 2004 film is for you. Neil Patrick Harris famously plays his twisted self, but there are many other great cameos.
