Xbox Game Pass Core is undergoing major changes this fall — here's what you need to know

Xbox Live Gold will soon become Xbox Game Pass Core, which will launch on September 14 with exactly the same pricing as Xbox Live Gold, but subscribers will have access to a new library of over 25 games.

The games will be available for purchase on that date.

Plus, if you remain a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member, any games you redeemed with Games with Xbox Live Gold will carry over.

The leak that Xbox Live Gold would be ending occurred hours before Xbox officially announced Xbox Game Pass Core. Now that this has turned out to be true, this decision seems like a natural way to integrate Xbox Live and Games with Gold with Xbox Game Pass. It would also increase the flexibility of subscription options for current and new Game Pass subscribers.

Here's everything you need to know about Xbox Game Pass Core.

Xbox Game Pass Core will launch on September 14 for Xbox consoles, including Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

The Xbox Game Pass Core will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X consoles.

Game Pass Core will retain Live Gold pricing. You will have the option of paying $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year, a savings of just under $60 over paying monthly.

Core Game Pass members will have access to over 25 first- and third-party games. Microsoft provided a list of games that can be expected at launch. According to the company, new titles are added two to three times a year, but it does not know how many games can be expected with each update.

Below is a partial list of titles that can be expected.

Note that the game library may vary by time and country.

Similar to Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass Core allows you to play online and receive free games and game discounts. Also, as noted above, it provides access to a library of over 25 games at no additional cost.

If you remain a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member, you will continue to have access to Xbox One games that you previously redeemed with Games with Gold. Xbox 360 games redeemed with Games with Gold will remain in your library regardless of your subscription status.

Since Xbox Live ceased to make sense after the release of Xbox Game Pass, it seems natural for Microsoft to integrate its legacy subscription service into Game Pass. This will reduce confusion for those wishing to subscribe to Xbox subscription services, as everything will be under one banner. Best of all, existing Live members have nothing to lose in this process.

Xbox Game Pass Core seems like a win for both Xbox and Xbox users; let's see what the results will be when it launches on September 14.
