Google Nest Hub Reportedly Bricked By Update — What to Do Now

You're not the only one whose Google Nest Hub is down; several users are reporting that their smart displays are bricked, as Google apparently implemented updates to the Nest Hub and Hub Max overnight on Friday.

As first discovered by 9to5Google, dozens of posts on Reddit and the Google Nest Community forum went into the weekend complaining about the problem.Google Nest Hub is programmed to automatically reboot every night and install the latest update The system is programmed to automatically reboot every night and install the latest update. However, after the latest update, shocked users were left with the progress bar stuck at 99% with the typical "Hang tight, this will take a few minutes" message, and the smart display They see the smart display stuck in an endless loop with the "Updating" screen.

Some say their Google Nest Hub is stuck on this screen for hours. The immediate solution of unplugging and plugging back in the power cable does not seem to solve the problem. Rather, the progress is reset to 0%, but when the count reaches 99%, the Google Nest Hub screen freezes as before.

Even stranger, the device reportedly remains fully responsive to voice commands, but responds with an error message when asked about an ongoing problem with the screen.

"The device responds perfectly but is stuck on the update screen. If you ask it a question, it will answer, but it just says there is something wrong with the screen," one of the affected users wrote on Reddit.

Unfortunately, many affected users say that resetting the Google Nest Hub to factory settings does not fix the problem. Resetting reboots the counter, but the device remains stuck in an endless update loop. One user on Google's community forum said he tested with different routers to see if the Wi-Fi connection was the problem, but to no avail.

However, one Reddit user had luck: their Google Nest Hub finally worked again after a factory reset, but only after clearing the cache of apps connected to the device and unlinking all unnecessary apps They said.

Hopefully Google will provide an official patch to fix this issue for affected devices soon. Until then, please contact Google Support via the Google Nest Community forum for the appropriate next steps.
