Superman: Legacy Release date, latest casting news, etc.

It looks like the casting of Superman and Lois Lane has been redone for Superman: Legacy, the film that James Gunn called "the real beginning of the DCU." Goodbye Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, and hello David Corenswett and Rachel Brosnahan. Four more cast members were added below.

Beyond Aquaman 2 and Blue Beetle, those of you who have seen the actual DCU movie that was announced (and can basically be held partially responsible for the Flash's failure) now have one or two familiar new names.

Oh, and for a little context, "Superman: Legacy" is the DCU's first film, but these are the only DC films to be released in the future; the DCU is also working on "Batman 2" (due out October 3, 2025), "Joker 2: Folly a Do" and J.J. Abrams and Ta= Nehisi Coates' "Black Superman" and other Elseworlds-branded films will be next door.

Alongside the above announcement video, in which we first learned about Superman: Legacy, we also learned that the film will be released on July 11, 2025.

This mid-summer release date hints at an early fall streaming date on Max, but the always tumultuous world of the best streaming services could be very different by 2025.

Three became one when The Wrap reported that David Corenswett had been cast as James Gunn's Superman. The Hollywood Reporter had just recently reported that the other Clark Kent candidates were Nicholas Hoult and Tom Britney.

The magazine then reported a surprising addition: Anthony Carrigan (Barry's "No-Ho Hank") will play archaeologist Rex Mason, who transforms into the hero Metamorpho.

Interestingly, THR said that potential Clarks and Lois Lane were seen in "pre-determined pairs" of Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Holt, Phoebe Daimber and Tom Brittney, and Emma McKee and David Corenswett He stated. McKee also apparently auditioned with Brittney and Holt, but did not get the part.

Rachel Brosnahan secured the role of Lois Lane, a reporter for the Daily Planet, so Collenswett was paired with Holt's Lois. Brosnahan has been working on the Prime Video series The Marvelous Mrs.

Collenswett has been appearing in television and film since 2011, with early credits including one episode of House of Cards and a role as a projectionist in The Pearl.

Three more casting announcements were made in Vanity Fair: Isabella Merced as winger Hawkgirl, Eddie Gathegi as inventor and martial artist Mr. Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner.

There is very brief information about the story of Superman: Legacy. Peter Safran told Deadline that "Superman will focus on balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American Way, kindness in a world that considers kindness old-fashioned."
