If new rumors are to be believed, the Apple Watch SE 3 may not make an appearance at Apple's September event this year.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple will not release a third-generation Apple Watch SE in 2023 and will instead announce its next round of affordable smartwatches in 2024.

Given the two-year upgrade cycle of the Apple Watch SE line, this news may not be that surprising. The current second-generation Apple Watch SE was just released in September 2022. Apple released the first generation Apple Watch SE in September 2020.

The Apple Watch SE offers most of the key features of the premium Apple Watch models, including workout tracking, fall detection, and emergency SOS, but at a more affordable starting price of $249.

A new Apple Watch SE may not be on the horizon, but a new lineup of Apple Watch devices is expected this fall. Perhaps a new Apple Watch Series 9, and possibly even an Apple Watch Ultra 2. [There are few rumors about the Apple Watch Series 9 so far. However, it is believed that the Apple Watch 9 will have a new processor, plus all the new software features that will appear in Watch OS 10. Apple is reportedly working on a non-invasive blood glucose reading sensor, but it is not likely to be ready for the Apple Watch 9.

The next series of Apple Watches could also include some of the features seen on the Apple Watch Ultra, especially if Apple plans to roll out its emergency SOS satellite system to more non-iPhone devices, which we expect.

As for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Garman has suggested in the past that a new Watch Ultra will be available this year, and reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo agrees. Multiple sources suggest that Apple is using 3D printed parts to lower the device's weight from 61.3g.

The Apple Watch Series 9 can be speculated to be priced similarly to the Apple Watch Series 8, starting at $399. Similarly, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is expected to start at $799.
