M3 MacBook Pro Benchmark: Are you ready for the AAA game?

We reviewed the M3 MacBook Pro and the MacBook Pro 16-inch M3 Max option with Turbo Boost. Spoiler alert, both are faster than the previous generation.

And most importantly for gaming fans, can Apple's claims of M3 graphics performance be believed? Is it finally time for MacBook gaming to become a real thing?

Through our exhaustive benchmark testing, we always aim to answer one key question. As evidenced by the numbers, the M3 and M3 Max not only showed healthy gains in our Geekbench 6 CPU tests, especially in single-core scores, but also reduced video transcode times.

But while the M3 has proven the obvious in speeding up processes important to prosumers, the big question on the lips of many here is not. Apple spoke enthusiastically about the M3's graphical capabilities, and spent a good portion of the keynote addressing its gaming potential.

Is the Cupertino staff finally starting to take an interest in MacBook gaming, and how well does the M3 chip perform in gaming, with 3DMark tests showing a significant improvement over the M2 model? [These numbers for both games optimized for Apple Silicon and non-optimized titles are incredibly encouraging that we may be seeing a gaming renaissance on the Mac. Because, I don't know about you, but I'm sick of having to carry a separate Steam Deck in my bag to play games with my MacBook.

Apple laptops are expensive to say the least, and I think it's fair to expect performance commensurate with the amount of work one does in a day. This seems like an encouraging step forward.
