PS5 Slim image shows how small the new console is

We know that the PS5 Slim is coming soon and what it will look like, but we don't know exactly how it will differ from the original PS5 console; a new photo posted on Twitter/X appears to show the new console and the launch model side by side.

The photo itself is by @phantompainss, but has since been deleted. Fortunately, some of the images were saved before they were deleted.

The images show that the PS5 Slim is much smaller and slimmer than its older sibling, but its design is just as odd. Perhaps even stranger, given how exaggerated the new curves appear. It also doesn't help that the photos show the PS5 with dBrand's Darkplates, which lack the distinctive fins of the original.

Still, even if Sony has not adopted the "slim" moniker, there is no denying that the PS5 Slim is worthy of the name the world has given it. It should be smaller, thinner, and take up considerably less space than the current model. Even with the exaggerated fins on Sony's official plaque.

The new console appears to have the same ports as before, including HDMI, two USB ports, Ethernet, and the all-important power socket; according to The Verge, earlier images show that the new removable disk drive must be registered during setup, and that it will require an Internet connection, It also appears to confirm that an Internet connection is required.

One of the images still remaining shows a new horizontal stand consisting of two pieces of plastic. Sony revealed that a new vertical stand will also be available, but it will only be purchased separately and will cost $30.

Sony has not revealed a release date for the PS5 Slim other than to confirm that it will be available in November; since the PlayStation Portal arrives on November 15, that makes it the most likely candidate, but Sony applies logic to the console release There is no guarantee that this will be the case.

However, we do know that the console with the disk drive will cost $500 and the digital model will cost $450. The disc drive can also be purchased separately for $80, in case one begins to regret the purchase of a digital-only machine.
