Google Pixel 8 Pro Has Screen Tint Issues - But a Fix is on the Way

There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed with the launch of the Google Pixel, and the Pixel 8 Pro is no exception, with some users reporting strange yellow and pink tints on the always-on display. Not the worst problem, but still not ideal. Thankfully, Google says it will release a fix.

One Pixel 8 user posted this issue on the Android Public Tracker, and several other affected owners subsequently confirmed their experience with this tint. Someone at Google has since marked the issue as resolved, claiming that a fix will be available in a future Android release.

It is not clear when that fix will actually be available and depends entirely on when the solution is finalized. All the solution post actually states is that people should keep a close eye on the Android release notes page.

The tint problem usually occurs when the brightness is really low and the refresh rate drops to 1Hz. This means that any time you enter a dark room, you will notice that there is some color tint around the text on the screen when both of these things are in action.

According to Android Police, you can solve this problem by forcing Always On Display to run at 120Hz, but this involves additional battery drain; the Pixel 8 Pro's battery is better than before, but still not the best The Pixel 8 Pro's battery is better than before, but still not the best, so it is a good idea to conserve battery power as much as possible. However, if this issue is too bothersome and you can't wait for an official fix to come out, you have that option as well.

The next big Pixel update will be a November security patch, which should arrive next week. If the fixes arrive in time, they may be offered as part of that update, but Pixel 8 Pro owners may have to wait until the December Pixel Feature Drop.

In the weeks since its launch, there have not been as many reports of problems with the Pixel 8, and in the grand scheme of things, the colored OLED display is not the biggest issue. Let's hope the Pixel 8 doesn't suffer a more serious setback in the coming weeks.
