Samsung boldly states that the Galaxy S24's graphics surpass the iPhone 15 Pro

Samsung is exaggerating in comments reported by EDaily (via Revegnus) about the performance of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Exynos 2400 chipset. This seems to include a guarantee of GPU performance that surpasses that of the iPhone 15 Pro.

Samsung LSI president Yong In Park said in a keynote speech at the Semiconductor Expo (SEDEX) (via machine translation): "I think the Xinos 2400 will do well because it has better graphics processing performance than its North American competitors. Given the limited number of companies that this comment could refer to, it seems safe to assume that this is a thinly veiled reference to the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro.

The Exynos 2400 chip was already announced in early October, but has yet to appear in any device. Samsung is no doubt hoping to use this chip this year, as it offered only the Snapdragon chip in the Galaxy S23 series, with the traditional division of Snapdragon in some markets like the US and basically Exynos everywhere else. The obvious reason for the year of no Exynos in the Galaxy S series was poor performance, so let's hope that Samsung has solved this problem for 2024.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was announced last week and also promises a significant upgrade in graphics performance. This is believed to be the chip that will power at least some Galaxy S24 models, as explained below.

The iPhone 15 Pro's A17 Pro chip is believed to be the most powerful chip in the Galaxy lineup in terms of GPU performance in both the less demanding Wild Life Unlimited benchmark and the more demanding Wild Life Extreme Unlimited benchmark in 3DMark. The Exynos 2400 chip is going to have to squeeze every ounce of power out of the AMD RDNA3-based GPU if it is going to unseat the iPhone 15 Pro.

Rumors about which Galaxy S24 models will feature the Exynos 2400 chip and which will probably feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and in which markets, are a bit confusing. the Galaxy S24 Ultra can be bought anywhere in the world. It is possible that it will have a Snapdragon chip and that the base S24 and S24 Plus chips will vary from country to country. Similarly, Samsung could revert to the old system of offering Exynos chips in most markets, meaning that only certain markets may have access to the best version of the S24, whether an Exynos or Snapdragon version.

The truth of all this will be known in January 2024, which is the rumored launch month for the Galaxy S24 series according to some sources. If not, it will be released in February, like the past few generations of Galaxy S's.
