The Samsung Galaxy S23 may have been announced on February 1, 2023, but there are numerous rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S24 will not. In fact, according to Weibo leaker Ice Universe (via @Tech_Reve), it is likely to be released in mid-January.

Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy S24 is currently in mass production and could be ready for a "mid to late January" launch. Whether this window is still fixed is unknown, but it does mean that the phone could arrive a bit earlier than its predecessor.

According to a source who spoke to SamMobile, "things could go either way. However, given the number of times we've heard about a possible Galaxy S24 launch in January, the likelihood of that happening grows further with each passing rumor.

Originally, the rumor said that the Galaxy S24 would be released about a month early, which would put its launch around January 1. That would have been an odd choice, given the proximity of both CES 2024, which opens in Las Vegas on January 9, and the holiday season. CES is January 9. The show will open in Las Vegas. The latter would undoubtedly take away a lot of attention at a time when Samsung needs to start taking pre-orders.

Rumors then revealed this early launch as mid-January, possibly around January 18. This is almost a week after CES ends on January 12, meaning there is a bit of leeway between the biggest tech show of the year and the Galaxy S24 launch.

After CES, there is usually nothing until Mobile World Congress at the end of February. It always makes sense to hold a Galaxy Unpacked event during this period, but Samsung has been inconsistent with the exact time frame.

The Galaxy S23 launched on February 1, 2023, and the Galaxy S22 on February 9, 2022. Before that, the Galaxy S21 appeared on January 14, 2021, and in previous years Samsung had released phones in March.

Therefore, it is never easy to pinpoint when the new Galaxy S flagship will appear, any more than it is fairly early. We will have to wait and see how things play out, but the odds of some sort of January launch seem to be getting better with each passing rumor.
