Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera may have an amazing zoom feature - how?

We have heard many rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S24, which is scheduled for release in January, but have heard little or nothing from Samsung itself. However, thanks to a demonstration of Samsung's new ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace camera technology, that may have changed.

Now, the company has not confirmed which devices will or will not feature the 200MP sensor. But we can read between the lines a bit, and it would be a big surprise if the S24 Ultra was not released with these new camera features. In particular, Samsung points out that the Zoom Anyplace is enhanced by the AI engine in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

There are a variety of features here, the first of which is AI-based tracking, which helps keep an eye on your chosen subject at all times. This eliminates the need to swing the phone around to try to get the subject in the frame. The technology can also shoot full-angle video while simultaneously taking a zoomed-in shot.

Interestingly, the technology also allows the camera to maintain a consistent resolution up to 4K. Previously, zooming in or out in the middle of a video would result in a loss of image quality. With this technology, however, everything remains the same no matter how much you change the magnification.

The technology also features what Samsung calls "end-to-end AI remosaic image capture." Apparently this changes the data output from sequential to parallel. This term alone may not mean much, but according to Samsung, this improves image quality by reducing data loss due to latency, providing "richer detail and color" in the process.

Parallel processing also reduces processing time, allowing images to be captured up to twice as fast as before, according to the company. Samsung does not specify the benefits, but the ability to capture images faster, even by tenths of a second, means that there is even less chance of the subject moving and ruining the whole thing.

Other rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra say that the sensor size will increase to 1 inch and may feature a new hybrid telephoto lens that provides 3x and 10x optical zoom without the need for two lenses. More recent rumors, however, claim that the maximum optical zoom could be reduced to 5x, while the 100x digital zoom would go nowhere.

We will have to wait for the official launch event to know exactly what to expect from the Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera. Recent rumors suggest that it will be released in mid-January, so it will be a few more months. Until then, you can keep up with all the latest news and rumors at the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra hub.
