Xbox Series X may be heavily discounted on Black Friday

Good news for those who were attracted to the Xbox Series X but were put off by its price.

According to X leaker billbil-kun, Microsoft's flagship console will receive a significant price cut around Black Friday 2023 (thanks NotebookCheck). If this leaker's information is correct, the console is currently priced at €549, but it looks like it will drop to €449.

In more upbeat news for those reading this outside the EU, billbil-kun predicts that the Xbox Series S may also get a reasonable discount in the US and UK. Currently, the Xbox Series X is available on Amazon for $484. Meanwhile, in the good old UK, the console is available (as of this writing) at a fraction of the discounted price. Right now, you can buy the Xbox Series X on Amazon UK for £460, down from the usual £480.

Does this mean that Microsoft's most powerful Xbox will suddenly be reduced by $100/$100 in the US and UK? Seems optimistic, but with the Black Friday sales, you never know.

If the Xbox Series X were temporarily on sale on Black Friday 2023 for around $380/£350, it would certainly be a must-buy if you have any interest in gaming. Again, I doubt that Microsoft would drop the high-end Xbox to such an aggressive price point. With Phil Spencer firmly at the helm, it is clear that the Big M's main priority is getting people to play their games, regardless of the hardware involved.

Currently, the ability to enjoy "Starfield" and "Forza Motorsport" on both PC (provided you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription) and cloud gaming services is Microsoft's main machine price reduction would not be a huge shock.

In a situation where the Xbox brand seems to be less and less tied to the physical gaming hardware produced by the House of Bill, a significant Black Friday discount makes sense, especially given the PS5's current lead over the Xbox Series X
