"Scavengers Reign" is the brainchild of filmmakers Joseph Bennett and Charles Huttner. It is reminiscent of James Cameron's "Avatar" and has a strong anime influence. There are 12 episodes in total, with the first three currently available on Max.

Scavengers Reign is set after an interstellar freighter is stranded on an alien planet. The survivors must navigate an unknown and unforgiving ecosystem in an attempt to escape or be rescued. However, the various groups will soon discover that danger lurks in the beauty of an ecosystem that was never intended for humanity, and the protozoa may not be malevolent, but are no less deadly.

The program is loosely based on the 2016 short film Scavengers.

The program initially follows three separate groups of survivors as they are scattered across the globe. Ted Travelstead ("The Great North") will play the lone survivor Carmen, while Bob Stevenson ("Top Gun: Maverick") and Sunita Mani ("Spirited Away") will voice the sailors Sam and Ursula. There is also Aji and his robot sidekick Levi, played by Unmi Mosaku ("Loki") and Alia Shawkat ("The Search Party").
