7 new Peacock bottles over 90% at Rotten Tomatoes.

Peacock added a bunch of new films this month. And this month, you are getting some serious bang for your buck. Of the films available this month, we found seven that have a 90% or higher critical rating on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.

There is a wide variety of critically-acclaimed films this month. There are several comedies, an action-packed sci-fi adventure, and a popular animated feature for the whole family.

Without further ado, here are seven new high-rated movies coming to Peacock in October 2023.

As an adult, the premise of "Back to the Future" is a little ridiculous, if not a little creepy. At the heart of the movie is Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) suddenly appearing in the past and bringing his parents Lorraine and George (Leah Thompson and Crispin Glover) together after Marty's future is put in jeopardy. All the while he's turning down his mother's advances because she's suddenly infatuated with this new face. Marty's best friend is a mad scientist (Christopher Lloyd) who is buying nuclear material from Libyan terrorists.

All that aside, "Back to the Future" is a classic. Foxx and Lloyd play the odd pairing of Marty McFly and Doc Brown brilliantly, and the time-traveling DeLorean is still iconic today. Add a great soundtrack with multiple songs by Huey Lewis and a killer performance by Fox, who arguably invented rock and roll music with this film, and you have a recipe for time at its best, with Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode.

With a staggering 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" (also known as "E.T.") may be legendary director Steven Spielberg's most critically acclaimed It may be legendary director Steven Spielberg's most critically acclaimed film. And that is a remarkable feat considering Spielberg's body of work.

Starring Henry Thomas as Elliot Taylor, the film focuses on Elliot's friendship with E.T., an alien stranded on Earth. Their bond grows incredibly strong as the film progresses, and their relationship is the clear driving force that makes this film so special.

Aside from Rotten Tomatoes' high praise, "E.T." has received acclaim in every way imaginable. At the Academy Awards, in addition to several other nominations, including Best Picture, it won for Best Composition (by John Williams, of course), Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Sound Editing. It also at one point surpassed the original "Star Wars" to become the highest grossing film of all time. Critics and audiences alike loved "E.T."

Unfortunately, the original "How to Train Your Dragon" is not available on Peacock. But that's okay, because "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is frankly just as good as the original. You won't lose anything by watching the first film, but you won't feel like you're missing out by watching the sequel; considering that the first film was basically a story that brought dragons and humans together, the story is largely stand-alone. Once you know that, you can basically catch up.

But a little more happens in the second film. The Vikings of Berk, led by Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), Astrid (America Ferrera), and Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), must defend their dragons and their homeland from the evil dragon hunter Drago Bludvist (Djimon Hunsoo) . In the process, they meet the mysterious Dragon Rider (Cate Blanchett). For a family movie night, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is a great choice.

The subsequent five films in the "Jurassic Park" series have varied in quality and are sometimes questionable, but the original is an undeniable classic. Based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, the same writer and director who wrote and directed "Westworld," which was later adapted into a film by HBO. Like "Westworld," "Jurassic Park" takes place in an awe-inspiring amusement park with incredible science. Unfortunately, things go incredibly wrong when the people running the amusement park lose control of what they have created.

Starring Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, and Richard Attenborough as Dr. John Hammond. It has everything you need: a phenomenal cast, an excellent director (Steven Spielberg), the iconic John Williams score, and CGI from Industrial Light and Magic. Frankly, I'd be shocked if this isn't one of the best films ever made. So be sure to see it while it's on Peacock.

As I said in this month's Hulu movie roundup, "Shaun of the Dead" may be the best zombie movie ever. And arguably the funniest. The film stars Simon Pegg as the sleazy Sean as he and his friend Ed (Nick Frost) try to survive a zombie-infested London. Sometimes they save friends and family, sometimes they kill friends and family. But every time they laugh.

Directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Pegg, the film launched the careers of the two, who had previously had success with the TV series "Spaced" before "Shaun of the Dead". The duo would be repeated twice more with "Hot Fuzz" (more on that later) and "The World's End," but "Shaun of the Dead" remains the height of their partnership.

"From the men who watched every action movie and created 'Shaun of the Dead'. If that doesn't get you hooked on "Hot Fuzz," I don't know what will. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play Nicholas Angel and Danny Butterman in "Hot Fuzz," a sequel to the previously discussed "Shaun of the Dead." In it, Angel and Butterman must uncover who is behind a series of gruesome deaths previously dismissed as accidents.

I prefer "Shaun of the Dead," but there is certainly an argument to be made that "Hot Fuzz" is the better of the two. Both are hilarious from start to finish, but I find "Hot Fuzz" a bit crazier.

What cannot be refuted, however, is the excellent cast that Pegg and director Edgar Wright have assembled for the film. In addition to Pegg and Frost, the cast includes Jim Broadbent as Inspector Frank Butterman, Paddy Considine as Sgt. Andy Wainwright, Timothy Dalton as supermarket owner Simon Skinner, Bill Nye as Chief Inspector Kenneth, and Inspector Doris Thatcher Olivia Colman stars in the film. If Olivia Colman is just one of the many fine actors in the film, you will certainly enjoy this film.

Speaking of movies full of acting actors, 2000's "Traffic" is especially full of acting actors. Benicio del Toro plays Mexican police officer Javier Rodriguez Rodriguez, Michael Douglas plays U.S. judge and "drug lord" Robert Wakefield, Don Cheadle plays DEA agent Montel Gordon, and Dennis Quaid plays drug lord Ernie Metzger, The Steven Soderbergh crime drama won multiple Oscars, including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (del Toro), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing.

It is also a quintessential Soderbergh film, and just by watching the trailer, one cannot help but get the vibe of Soderbergh's Ocean's 11, the film he would release the following year. In classic Soderbergh fashion, the film centers around multiple stories, which connect at the end. The interwoven plots of "Traffic" are not as tightly knit as in later Soderbergh films, but they still overwhelm the viewer. Especially in "Traffic," as things get more complex, it never gets overwhelming. Don't miss it while it's streaming on Peacock.
