This is what the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy looks like.

Screenshots of "Hogwarts Legacy" on Nintendo Switch have been released.

Set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, the open-world RPG will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in February, on PS4 and Xbox One in May, and then on Nintendo Switch on November 14. And these screenshots give us our first look at how the game will look on Nintendo's less powerful platforms.

The six screenshots show various aspects of the game, including a classroom scene and a close-up shot of Slytherin student Sebastian Salou, one of the key supporting characters in the Hogwarts Legacy. There is also a lakeside scene that showcases a rather impressive drawing distance. There is also an image of a group of thugs with a chained dragon, as well as a shot taken within the Room of Requirement.

Overall, these screenshots give hope that "The Hogwarts Legacy" will be successfully ported to the Nintendo Switch console. These images suggest that the visuals will be a clear downgrade compared to the game's graphics on current hardware. However, this is a concession that Switch players are accustomed to, as cross-platform titles often come with caveats regarding visuals and performance on the Nintendo Switch.

While these screenshots show that "Hogwarts Legacy" looks respectable on the Nintendo Switch, there are big questions about the game's overall performance: during 50 hours of playing "Hogwarts Legacy" on PS5, performance issues were noticeable in several instances, and may be exacerbated by the move to a console with lower performance than the PS4.

However, given the remarkable and impressive Switch ports like "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt" and "Red Dead Redemption," we are hopeful that the development team responsible for porting the game to Nintendo hardware will be able to pull off similar feats of technical magic I have high hopes. However, we just hope that they avoid the debacle of Switch conversions like the "GTA" trilogy, "Ark: Survival Evolved" and "Alan Wake Remastered". All three of these games were terrible at launch.

Hogwarts Legacy was originally scheduled to launch on Switch on July 25, but was pushed back in early May to the current November date. While this is actually a positive sign that publisher Warner Bros. Games is trying to ensure that the Switch version gets the attention it needs, it is clearly not a guarantee of the port's quality. Fortunately, we only have to wait a few more weeks to see for ourselves if "The Hogwarts Legacy" can be gracefully ported to the Nintendo Switch.
