Lupin Season 4: Everything we know so far

In Season 4 of Lupin, a former nemesis may once again attack gentleman thief Assane Diop if Netflix renews this French drama.

Lupin recently concluded its third season, which saw Assan (Omar Sy) pull off his biggest heist yet to protect his ex-lover Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and son Raoul (Etan Simon).

Smart and capable, Assan has made some enemies in the process. And one from his past may still be pulling strings, even from behind bars. The antagonism between Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre) and Assan has yet to be revealed.

The show could go on, as co-creator and screenwriter George Kay told Radio Times. "The show is deliberately designed to last. And it was never intended to be a stunt."

Here is what we know so far about Lupin season 4.

Lupin season 4 is still up in the air, as Netflix has not yet given the go-ahead. The French series' third season was released on October 5, 2023, so it is unlikely that the streamer will announce a renewal for at least a few more weeks.

Season 4 of Lupin, however, is likely to happen. Not only did season 3 dominate Netflix's top 10 global charts in its first week of release, but viewers are catching up to seasons 1 and 2.

If Netflix orders "Lupin" Season 4, when will it arrive? Almost a year and a half has passed between seasons 2 and 3. This long gap can be explained by the fact that equipment was stolen and production was delayed. If not for that, there might have been only a gap of about a year.

So our best guess is that the release date for Lupin season 4 could be fall 2024.

The cast of Lupin Season 3 features Omar Sy as Assan Diop, a gentleman thief modeled after the fictional character Arsene Lupin from the series of books.

Other key members of the Lupin Season 4 cast include:

First, let's review what happened in the "Lupin" Season 3 finale. After framing a childhood boxing coach (who kidnapped Assain's mother, Mariama) for stealing the precious Black Pearl, Assain turned himself in to Detective Gedira, as promised. Settled in a jail cell lined with novels by his beloved Arsène Lupin, he receives a letter from his neighbor, Hubert Pellegrini.

As you might imagine, Pellegrini is Assane's sworn enemy. He is the one who falsely accused Assane's father, Babacar, of being a thief. Assane devised a complex plan to get back at Pellegrini, and it worked: the former tycoon was disgraced in front of his daughter Juliette and sent to prison for fraud.

Pellegrini's note left only a photograph of a teenage Assane holding Lupin's book: Cagliostro's Revenge. Assane hastily opens it and reads a passage: "The mystery was in you. The mystery was in you. To trap you and build trust, I welcomed the love you pretended to have for me. Perhaps you believed that I myself felt it and truly loved me. Thus you lost clarity of mind."

As Asan reads, the faces of the other characters appear on the screen: Hubert, Juliette, Mariama, Asane's mother, and Benjamin, her best friend.

It is implied that Pellegrini did not remain docile in prison. In fact, he may be the mastermind behind everything that happened in Season 3, including Mariama's return. Pellegrini may be trying to avenge Athan's broken relationship with his daughter Juliette by destroying his relationship with her family and friends.

As Kay explained to RadioTimes, there are plenty of bargains in "Lupin" season 4. 'Will Athan be properly reunited with Claire and Raoul? Will he be able to work through his personal life? Those relationships feel really strong, so it can go on," Kay said.

[34] He added, "The only way to know for sure is when Netflix says it will continue, but the architecture is all there for that."
