There's something for everyone in the new movies coming to On Demand, Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services this week. For those who love the spooky season, "Saw X" and "Cobweb" are perfect for spooky nights, while comedies "Old Dads" and "No Hard Feelings" will make you laugh.

In addition, new streaming movies this week include a documentary on famed spy novelist John le Carré, an animated adventure that liberates the Kraken, and a thriller that plunges Nicolas Cage into the Taken era.

Some of the films are new digital releases and will be available at premium prices, while for others, all you need is an appropriate streaming subscription. Below are the top new films available for streaming this week.

Maggie Smith, Kathy Bates, and Laura Linney, three of the best actresses working today, star in this heartwarming tale of friendship. Smith, Bates, and Agnes O'Casey play neighbors living in a gritty country town in 1967 Dublin. They finally fulfill their biggest dream when they win a pilgrimage to the French holy city of Lourdes. But just before the trip, their estranged friend Chrissy (Linney) returns after leaving Ireland in disgrace 40 years earlier. She joins the trip to Lourdes in place of her recently deceased mother, and old wounds are rekindled.

Will this action thriller make the list of best Nicolas Cage films? No. Still, it's good to see Cage continue to appear on the screen. His taste in projects may be varied, but that can lead to interesting results (see: "Pig"). He plays the estranged father of a daughter, Ashley (Ashley Greene), who becomes involved in a criminal gang that threatens the lives of herself and her young child, Sarah (Talia Campbell). Ashley seeks help from her father, who is now living the beach bum life in the Cayman Islands. Pursued by crime boss Donnie (Jackie Earle Haley) and his second-in-command Bobo (Ron Perlman), Ashley soon learns that her father is hiding a secret past.

The latest entry in the creepy children's horror genre revolves around 8-year-old Peter (Woody Norman), who hears mysterious banging noises coming from inside his bedroom wall. His parents Carol (Lizzy Caplan) and Mark (Antony Starr) consider his reports childishly imagined. They also forbid him from trick-or-treating because of the death of a little girl in their neighborhood a few years earlier. Peter, however, continues to hear noises, which turn into the voice of a girl named Sarah, who convinces Peter that if he doesn't get to her first, she will kill him, just as she drove away the trick-or-treaters whose parents died.

Comedian Bill Burr makes his directorial debut with this entertaining film about three men in their late 40s who become fathers late in life. Barr, Bobby Cannavale, and Bokeem Woodbine find that they have not stepped up to the plate in all aspects of their lives. The new CEO is a millennial who wants to transform the company into a "gender-neutral, carbon-neutral, 21st century lifestyle brand." He also doesn't fit in with the other parents at the kindergarten, not to mention the perfectionist principal (Rachel Harris). And while Barr would do anything for his children, he has great difficulty dealing with anything made after 1987.

The great documentarian Errol Morris is the author of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, and other classic spy novels, Errol Morris turns his lens on the life and career of David Cornwell, a.k.a. John le Carré. The documentary spans six decades, with a particular emphasis on the Cold War era. Morris chronicles Cornwell's time as an intelligence officer in the British Army and MI5, and as a clandestine foreign spy in MI6, before turning to writing. Cornwell himself will also be interviewed for the last time, and rare archival footage and dramatized vignettes will be inserted.

DreamWorks Animation's latest animated adventure tells the story of Ruby Gilman (voiced by Lana Condor), a shy 15-year-old Kraken girl. Her overprotective mother (Toni Collette) forbids Ruby from going into the ocean with the cool kids. When Ruby breaks the rule, she discovers that she is a direct descendant of the Queen of the Kraken, a warrior who protects the land and sea from evil mermaids. One day she will inherit the throne from her regal grandmother (Jane Fonda). Ruby, however, is in for a tumultuous start when a popular new student, Chelsea (Annie Murphy), happens to be a mermaid.

If you're in the mood to rage against injustice, this documentary is for you: director Raul Peck of I Am Not Your Negro expands on the 2019 ProPublica story, the Lils' fight to reclaim the land their ancestors settled. The film chronicles the family's story. Leading the charge are fierce patriarch Mamie Reels Ellison and her niece, Kim Renee Duhon. They are also seeking the release of their brothers and uncles, Melvin and Rickertis, who were wrongfully imprisoned for eight years on the longest civil contempt charge in North Carolina history. The documentary highlights how the legal system has been covertly abused to make black land ownership vulnerable and to continue to widen the racial wealth gap.

"Saw" is the tenth installment in a film franchise whose timeline is so convoluted that the story is almost incomprehensible, and it gets the reboot treatment. Saw X attempts to untangle the ties and simplify everything by taking place between James Wan's original 2004 film and 2005's Saw II. John Kramer (Tobin Bell), suffering from a brain tumor and desperate, heads to Mexico to undergo a dangerous experimental surgery, only to discover that the entire operation is a fraud. Angered for himself and other vulnerable patients, John transforms into his alter ego, Jigsaw, and exacts revenge in horrific and bloody ways.

This throwback Western echoes the best of the genre made by masters such as Sergio Leone and John Ford. Director Anthony Mandler has taken a tried-and-true traditional approach and modernized it to focus on race. Five years after the Civil War, freedom fighter and former buffalo soldier Moses "Mo" Washington (Letitia Wright) disguises herself as a man and heads west to acquire a gold mine. After her stagecoach is ambushed by a gang of vicious thieves, Moses is forced to lock up legendary outlaw Tommy Walsh (Jamie Bell). A battle of wills ensues as both men try to survive the harsh wilderness, and the lines between prisoner and captive blur.

Last year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe released the gothic story and black-and-white visuals of director Michael Giacchino (best known as the composer of "Lost" and "Up") in a classic horror He experimented by developing a 53-minute short film that pays homage to the presentation. This year, Disney Plus will release a color version of this spooky special, starring Gael Garcia Bernal as Jack Russell, a monster hunter cursed to turn into a werewolf. After the death of the renowned Ulysses Bloodstone, Jack is summoned to his castle. There, world-class hunters, including Ulysses' daughter Elsa (Laura Donnelly), track monsters in the gardens and compete for a powerful relic. An intense and bloody night ensues.

Maddy's car was repossessed, making it impossible for her to continue working as an Uber driver. Facing bankruptcy and in need of money, she finds an unusual job posting by rich helicopter parents looking for someone to "date" their clumsy, introverted son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman). Maddie vows to "date" Percy, but Percy is not an easy catch. ......
