The OnePlus 12 display could beat the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

New leaked details of the OnePlus 12, courtesy of Weibo's Digital Chat Station, may reveal that it will surpass the Galaxy S24 Ultra in display brightness.

DCS reports that the OnePlus 12 will not only have a large 6.82-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate (slightly larger than the 6.7-inch OnePlus 11), but also a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits.

This is brighter than the newly launched 2,400 nits Pixel 8 Pro. It would also surpass the 2,500 nits of the top Galaxy S24 model. And if we look beyond the Android flagship models, this figure would also beat the iPhone 15 series, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.

Also, according to Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 12's screen uses 2160Hz PWM dimming, a system that theoretically helps reduce eye strain.

DCS also states that OnePlus will offer a 16GB/512GB version of the OnePlus 12 in addition to the base model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. However, the top-of-the-line OnePlus 12 will apparently come with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage

. This is far more than the amount of RAM and storage currently on the OnePlus 11, plus essentially far more RAM than any other smartphone currently on the market; according to DCS' post, this will be joined by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, It's a surprising upgrade for an Android phone in 2024, but it will be worth it.

As is OnePlus' pattern, the OnePlus 12 will likely not appear in the global market until next year, even if it launches in China this December. However, in the far near future, it has been confirmed that the OnePlus Open will arrive next week, bringing a new foldable phone rival to the market that could surpass the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google Pixel Fold rivals in price and specs.
