PS5 Cloud Gaming coming this month - everything known at this time

PS5 cloud streaming was first offered to PlayStation Plus premium subscribers earlier this year. Thankfully, the feature will soon complete its testing phase and will be available to all of the most expensive PlayStation Plus subscribers by the end of the month.

According to Sony, subscribers will be able to stream full-length games, demo versions, and the "PS5 digital library". The last one is particularly interesting and may be open to interpretation. However, judging from Sony's announcement article, this means that you will only be able to stream certain titles from the cloud if you already own them. Otherwise, one can only wish you luck.

The full list of games that will be available for streaming is not yet known, but Sony has confirmed that "Spider-Man: Miles Morales," "Horizon Forbidden West," "Ghosts of Tsushima," "Mortal Kombat 11," "Saints Row IV" and other catalogs are confirmed. The announcement trailer also includes footage of "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart," "Gotham Knights," and "God of War: Ragnarok"

. While not the greatest selection of games in the world, one would expect Sony to offer more games once this service becomes available to all, as long as they maintain active subscriptions, like Game Pass Ultimate, It will be possible to download these games to the console and play them locally; DLC and in-game purchases will also be available, but it is unclear if these will be included in the subscription price.

The only streaming trial versions currently confirmed are The Witcher 3, Hogwarts Legacy, and Callisto Protocol. Additional titles that must be owned for now include "Resident Evil 4," "Dead Island 2," "Phantom of the Fallen," "The Fall Guys," and "Fortnite."

Finally, these games will be playable at up to 4K resolution and 60 FPS, and PlayStation Plus streaming will win over Game Pas Ultimate, which is limited to 1080p at 60 FPS. Cloud gaming will also allow for HDR and Tempest 3D Audiotech.

The downside, of course, is that only PS5 consoles can stream games, with no PC, PS4, or mobile options at the moment; Xbox is ahead of the curve in this regard.

Cloud streaming is only available on PlayStation®Plus with Premium, which in the US costs $18 per month, $50 per quarter, or $120 per year. UK subscribers must pay $13.49 per month, £40 per quarter, or £100 per year.

Cloud streaming itself will be rolled out in waves, with Sony targeting an October 17 launch in Japan, October 23 in Europe, and finally October 30 in the US.
