School shootings are tragic and all too common, but the 1999 Columbine massacre shocked the nation. At the time, it was the worst high school shooting in U.S. history (until the Parkland incident in 2018). Columbine sparked social debates about gun control laws, bullying, teenage cliques, and mental health, and documentarian Michael Moore explored all those topics in his Oscar-winning documentary.

Moore pulls no punches, deploying his usual style as a provocative agitator. He irritates Kmart executives about the sale of bullets, torches actor Charlton Heston for supporting the National Rifle Association, and uses sarcastic musical selections to highlight the violence present in American culture.

Brad Pitt does his best to make a film about mathematics engaging. This is no ordinary feat. Billy Beane is the general manager of the Oakland Aces, putting together a competitive team that can compete for the World Series on a limited budget.

Before Kenneth Branagh turned to directing and starring in Agatha Christie adaptations, he made a name for himself directing and starring in such adaptations of William Shakespeare. Their love-hate relationship runs parallel to that of the beautiful Hero (Kate Beckinsale) and the lovesick Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard).
