The Doctor Returns Frazier Crane returns for a new adventure in Paramount Plus' Frazier Revival, nearly 20 years after the show went off the air. Kelsey Grammer reprises the famous role that began in Cheers and continued through his own series.

As the reboot begins, we find that Frazier has returned to Boston. However, he finds himself in a similar position with his own son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott), just as he was at odds with his father over a disagreement. Besides, as the series teaser says, he is ready to take on "new challenges to face, new relationships to build, and one or two old dreams to finally fulfill."

As TG writer Ben F. Silverio wrote in his review of "Frasier," the new series is a solid situation comedy that feels like comfort food.

In the trailer for Frasier's rebirth, the good doctor is drinking beer at a bar. There is something about Boston that lures him to a less sophisticated drink. Then he takes on new challenges, such as teaching at Harvard University and trying to bond with Freddy.

The "Frasier" revival cast is led by Kelsey Grammer as psychiatrist and radio personality Frasier Crane.

Aside from Grammer, the bulk of the revival cast will consist of new additions to the Cheersverse. However, even though new actors make up the "Frasier" revival cast, longtime fans will recognize several key characters.

Jack Cutmore Scott stars as Frasier's son, Freddy Crane. He will co-star with Anders Keith as David Crane, Frasier's nephew and son of Niles and Daphne.

Rounding out the cast are Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frazier's college friend Professor Alan Cornwall, Jess Salgueiro as Freddy's roommate Eve, and Tox Olagundoye as Olivia, the head of the psychology department.

Also, while Niles and Daphne are apparently still in Seattle, two other familiar faces from the original show appear as recurring characters: Peri Gilpin as Frasier's former producer and best friend, Roz Doyle, and Frasier's ex-wife and Freddy's mother Bebe Neuwirth as Dr. Lilith Sternin, Frasier's ex-wife and Freddy's mother.

When he saw Dr. Frazier Crane off for the last time, he was at a crossroads. His father Martin and Ronnie had just gotten married, his brother Niles and Daphne had become parents, and Roz had been promoted to director of KACL. And with his current girlfriend and former matchmaker, Charlotte, back in Chicago, he felt there was nothing more to keep him in Seattle.

Luckily, an opportunity arose to take on television in San Francisco and call upon him as the next step. However, at the end of the two-part finale, Frazier landed in Chicago, not to relocate to the Bay Area, but perhaps to continue with Charlotte. Unfortunately, things did not work out for Frazier again, and he once again started over in Boston.
