One of PS5's best games finally comes to PC - expect a better port than its predecessor!

Arguably the best exclusive title in the PS5's full three-year lifespan will be released on PC early next year. This is obviously great news for those who own the best gaming laptops and the best gaming PCs.

Horizon Forbidden West was released in February to critical acclaim, and as one of the best PS5 games, we heaped praise on it in our review as an "audience-pleasing sequel."

Aloy's adventure is Horizon Forbidden: Horizon Forbidden: West Complete Edition for PS5 on October 6, with a PC version to follow in early 2024.

This ultimate edition will include the well-received "Burning Shores" DLC, a digital soundtrack, a digital art book, and a digital comic book. It also includes additional in-game items not found in the base game, such as the Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike and Alloy's Nora Thunder Elite outfit.

No word yet on pricing for the PC version, but the Complete Edition for the PS5 version will cost $59.99. The price for the PC version is unknown, but you can already add it to your Steam wish list or Epic Games Store wish list.

However, as great as Alloy's open-world adventure is, there are some concerns about the PC version.

The original adventure, Horizon Zero Dawn, was released on PC in 2020, but the game was in poor shape at launch. This is the first time that developer Guerrilla Games has ported a game to PC (with additional help from a studio called Virtuos), and it shows.

I reviewed the PC version when it was released and found it to be in pretty shameful shipping condition; even with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, the game stuttered around with frequent frame drops every time Alloy roamed the post-apocalyptic wilderness. The frame rate hiccups were so bad that the game was near unplayable during the first few months it was available on Steam.

To Guerrilla's credit, the studio worked hard to fix the PC version after launch, and after numerous patches, Zero Dawn was finally in good shape. Played on a decent gaming rig, one could argue that it is one of the best open world games of the past half century.

One can only hope that Guerrilla has learned its lesson for Forbidden West, which will be released on PC next year. If there is room for optimism, it is that "Death Stranding," which uses the same Decima engine as both "Horizon" titles, will launch smoothly on PC in the summer of 2020.

Meanwhile, contrary to the "glass half full" view, another PlayStation title, namely "The Last of Us Part 1," was terrible when it launched on PC earlier this year. Eventually, a post-launch patch saved Joel and Ellie, but there is definitely a history of Sony releasing major PS4 and PS5 games on PC in poor condition.

Anyway, fingers crossed that the PC port of Horizon Forbidden will be released in good shape: because 2023 has been a seriously tough time for fans of triple-A PC games. Yes, we are looking at Forspoken and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
