Google Pixel 8 Specs Leak Massively - Everything Expected Is Here

All the key specs for the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have been leaked in a handy table format thanks to veteran tipster Evan Blass.

While some new and upgraded features of the Pixel 8 have already been leaked, this table shows how the new Pixel compares to a couple of Google's older models as well as each other.

Starting with the displays, we can see that the Pixel 8 series brings two major changes. One is the introduction of Actua and Super Actua displays, which seems to be the name of Google's new ultra-bright screen technology. The other noticeable change is that the basic Pixel 8 now has a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, up from the previous non-Pro Pixel's maximum of 90Hz. [The Pixel 8 is now 6.2 inches instead of 6.3 inches like the Pixel 7.

In terms of photography, the table explains that both Pixel 8 series models will have a new 10.5MP selfie camera; the Pixel 8's ultrawide camera has a new autofocus and the Pixel 8 Pro's ultrawide camera's autofocus Other than the obvious upgrade, there appears to be no changes in camera type, resolution, or zoom level (for the telephoto camera on the Pro model) compared to last year's Pixel.

Skipping a bit down the list, the Pixel 8 Pro also includes a thermometer, which is believed to be mounted on the back along with the camera. This has been rumored for some time, but if it really works as a regular thermometer and can read the temperature of whatever it is pointed at, Google will have one of the most unique selling points in the smartphone world.

Returning to camera features, the new Pixel is described as having a "Best Take" mode, in addition to the "Photo Unblur" and "Magic Eraser" modes found on the previous Pixel.

The Pixel 8 Pro will also get Pro Controls, which is supposed to provide an enhanced camera experience for more savvy users. However, there is no mention of the previously rumored "Video Unblur" feature.

It has also been confirmed that the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will feature a macro focus camera mode, which was exclusive to the Pixel 7 Pro. Both models will also be able to shoot 4K video, although the number of frames per second has not been specified.

Not surprisingly, the two new Pixels feature the Tensor G3 chipset, Google's next-generation in-house chips. Also, there is no mention of charging speed or battery size in this table, but both Pixel 8 devices appear to have fast-charging batteries that last for 24 hours.

Finally, the table confirms that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro offer face and fingerprint unlock, as well as IP68 dust and water resistance, just as the older Pixel did.

In addition to the Pixel 7a, the table also shows the Pixel 7; its presence in the table alongside the Pixel 8 suggests that Google may take a cue from Apple and Samsung's Playbook and begin offering its older flagship models at a discount rather than simply discontinuing them

The following is a list of the most popular models.

The next Made by Google event will take place on October 4 (i.e., a week from now at the time of this article's publication), and the Pixel 8 has already been confirmed. While we may also see devices like the new Pixel Buds and updated smart home gear, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, in addition to these upgraded features not covered in this leak, will start longer software support, higher pricing, and the elimination of the SIM card tray, among other features, are likely to be the stars of the keynote.
