How to watch MetaConnect, Meta Quest 3 launch, and more!

Meta Connect 2023 will almost certainly be the official launch of Meta Quest 3. While not technically official yet, Meta has announced that Quest 3 will be at this year's event. And once announced, Meta's mixed reality headset should be an instant contender for best VR headset.

Meta Quest 3 and the possibility of new Meta smart glasses will be announced on September 27 at likely to be announced during Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's keynote at Meta Connect. To watch the event, visit Meta's Facebook page. The keynote begins at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. ET/6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. ET on September 28.

And if you want to keep watching after the big event, Meta will also air "Developer State of the Union" for those who are into VR; to watch Developer State of the Union, 2:45pm ET / 11am PT 45pm/7:45pm BST/4:45am AEST (September 28), visit the Meta for Developers Facebook page. The page will also feature developer sessions and feature announcements. [This headset is a direct successor to the Meta Quest 2 and a sort of spiritual successor to the Meta Quest Pro.

Thankfully, pricing for Meta's new headset is close to the Quest 2, starting at $499/£479.99/€549.99/$799 Australian for the 128GB model. A model with larger storage capacity is said to be available in the U.S. for $649, possibly with 512GB of storage.

It is priced higher than the Quest 2, but is expected to come with some serious upgrades; between the official announcement from Meta and the leaks about the headset, we expect it to be a mixed reality headset like the Quest Pro, plus traditional virtual reality, We know that it will allow full color pass-through for augmented reality experiences.

Meta says the chipset will offer twice the graphics performance of the Quest 2 with XR2 Gen 1.

Meta also promises that Quest 3 will offer a significant display upgrade; according to Meta, Quest 3 will offer "nearly a 30% leap in resolution from Quest 2." This is expected to bring the headset's LCD display resolution to 2064 x 2208 pixels per eye and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

We will know more definitively when Meta Connect officially begins at Zuckerberg's keynote. We may also see a new Meta smart glasses in partnership with Ray-Ban.
