Pixel Watch 2 Leaks, All Upgrades Revealed Before Made by Google Event

The upcoming Made by Google event is not only about the Google Pixel 8 smartphone. Fortunately, we don't have to wait until the event to find out what will be announced. Because, in classic Google style, an official-looking Pixel Watch 2 commercial has leaked.

The commercial is by Kamila Wojciechowska and 91mobiles and details some of the features that will be included in the Pixel Watch 2. It is also claimed that there is supporting documentation that explains what can be done with these features in more detail than a one-minute video can provide.

If that's still not enough, you may be able to get a Pixel Watch 2 without paying for it; Wojiciechowska also posted what looks like a screenshot of some sort of promotion where you can get a free Pixel Watch 2 if you pre-order a Pixel 8 Pro. He also posted what appears to be a screenshot. However, the leaker claims that this is only for the U.S. and does not know if other regions will get the same deal.

Given that pre-orders of the Pixel Fold also came with a free Pixel Watch, there is no chance that Google will offer a similar deal for its next phone. Especially if the rumors of a $100 price increase prove to be true.

But back to the new features that are coming. Judging from the video and the 91mobiles report, there are quite a few. The main one is that there is a big focus on health, thanks to hardware and features from Fitbit, a Google-owned company. This includes Fitbits "multi-pass" heart rate sensor, which allows for more accurate and robust heart rate monitoring.

As we have heard before, 91mobiles claims that the Pixel Watch 2 will also include Fitbit's stress management feature. In doing so, users will be asked to record their moods, and the software will suggest ways to relax, such as taking a walk or guided breathing.

Among the things the watch will apparently track are continuous skin electrical activity (cEDA), heart rate variability, skin temperature, and general heart rate tracking. The watch also appears to be able to automatically detect seven different workouts, including running and outdoor cycling. Pace training helps keep the pace constant.

As previously rumored, 91mobiles claims that the Pixel Watch 2 will include a Safety Check timer. If not, it will allow you to share your location with trusted contacts and emergency services. Apparently, this feature will also allow you to share medical information with emergency services in case you are unable to do so yourself.

Finally, battery life is apparently about 24 hours with the always-on display turned on. This is the same as the Pixel Watch, which is not ideal, but could be worse; a day's worth of charge seems to be regained after 75 minutes.

On the design front, 91mobiles reports that the Pixel Watch 2 will be made of 100% aluminum and may feature a redesigned back with three new sensors. It will be available in four colors: polished silver (bay), matte black (obsidian), champagne gold (hazel), and polished silver (porcelain).

The Pixel Watch 2 will be announced at the Made by Google event on October 4.
