Only something truly out of this world could surpass Kipchoge's record. The former Ethiopian 800m runner set a new course record with her time of 2:15:37, the fifth-fastest time in women's marathon history and, perhaps most astoundingly, beat her previous personal best by 18 minutes.The 29-year-old, last year's half marathon winner Berlin with Sheila Chepkirui (Kenya).

It is Chepkirui's compatriot, Kipchoge, who will be the most visible in Berlin.
