Spotify's "Supermium" HiFi Tier will reportedly include several never-before-seen features.

Six long years after its announcement, Spotify's subscription tier HiFi may be coming sooner than expected; according to a newly discovered reference in Spotify's source code, HiFi will launch with several undisclosed features Ready to go.

Discovered by u/Hypixely on Reddit and reported by The Verge, Spotify will describe the HiFi tier as "Supermium," which will include 24-bit lossless audio for subscribers.

In addition to higher bitrate music, Supermium will include AI-curated playlists that allow users to sort their libraries by mood, activity, and genre, a great feature for DJs and those who want to create the best playlists possible.

Finally, the source code states that users will be able to listen to 30 hours of audiobooks per month.

So how much does Supermium cost each month, according to Redditor, $19.99 per month, though they admit that this figure may be a placeholder.

Nevertheless, $19.99/month seems reasonable.

Will the HiFi audio and DJ-centric features be enough to entice users to upgrade? That remains to be seen, but given that about 220 million people currently subscribe to the service, it is quite possible that millions would be willing to pay a little more for higher quality streaming.
