iPhone 15 Pro's hidden design changes can save you money - how?

The iPhone 15 Pro has undergone many design changes compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, one of which is an internal design that is easier to repair. This design debuted on the iPhone 14 last year and made repairs to the back glass panel much cheaper. This change is also reflected in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Without AppleCare Plus, the back glass repair for the iPhone 14 Pro will cost $499 and $549 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, on the other hand, cost only $169 and $199 for the same repair. This is not a small amount of money, but it is a staggeringly large difference compared to the Pro model.

Apple's repair website now confirms that the cost to repair the back glass of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is not that prohibitively expensive. In fact, the repair cost without AppleCare Plus is $169 and $199, respectively. This is the same price as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, keeping the repair cost the same as previous years' models.

Sadly, despite the lower price of the new rear glass panel, replacing the front glass panel is still horribly expensive. iPhone 15 demands a price tag of $279, and the new Plus and Pro touchscreens cost $329. The price will be $379. [Considering that AppleCare Plus is $199 for two years of coverage, it would only take one repair to essentially pay for itself.

Battery replacement is still $99, or free with AppleCare Plus. Rear camera damage is slightly more expensive for iPhone 15 Pro Max owners, with Apple asking $249 - or $99 with AppleCare. The iPhone 15 Pro remains $219, while the standard and Plus models are asking $169.

Also, the rather vague (and shockingly expensive) "other damages" seem unchanged; Pro Max owners will have to pay $699, or nearly the full price of the brand new base model iPhone 15, while Pro owners cough up $649 while Pro owners will have to cough up $649. With AppleCare Plus, all of these costs drop to $99, because Apple obviously wants people to sign up for this plan.
