Hulu Stealing Netflix's Best Features - What's Next?

Hulu Stealing Netflix's Best Features - What's Next?

Hulu is one of the best streaming services, but its user interface leaves much to be desired; finding the best shows on Hulu could be easier.

Hulu has added a feature called Top 15 Today. In this case, there are only five additional choices; according to Vulture, Top 15 Today is updated daily between 2:00 and 3:00 PM ET. These are Hulu's Top 15, not necessarily the Top 15 most-watched shows or movies.

To be fair, it would be hard for Hulu to reinvent the wheel here, and Netflix did not invent the concept of a top 10 list. However, Hulu has added one new twist. In Top 15 Today, the shows listed are not entire seasons or series, just episodes. So don't be surprised if you see "General Hospital" season 59 episode 138, as I did while scrolling through today.

Top 15 Today's originality or not, this is a welcome change for those who use Hulu to watch TV shows and movies; Hulu's user interface, especially Live TV through Hulu + Live TV and ESPN Plus channels, often feels cluttered. I often struggle to find what I want, but this at least brings me closer to my Platonic ideal of a streaming service home screen.

And yes, when it comes to TV shows and movies, unlike Netflix's Top 10 list, which divides TV shows and movies into two separate lists, Hulu combines everything into one. Personally, I like this choice because it requires less scrolling to find new shows and movies.

My only complaint? I would like to see the "Today's Top 15" moved further up on the home screen. At the very least, it should appear right after the "continue watching" line, rather than buried under the sponsor curation. Bottom line. It's been almost a day since this feature was launched, and despite watching "Welcome to Wrexham Season 2," "Futurama," and "Archer" on Hulu within the past 24 hours, I had a hard time finding it. if Hulu is putting so much effort into curating the listings, it If Hulu is doing a good job of curating their listings, they shouldn't make them so hard to find.
