iOS 17 adds more than 20 new ringtones to iPhone

The iPhone 15 may be the biggest news this week, but phones aren't the only new thing coming to Apple's ecosystem in the next few weeks. In fact, it has been revealed that iOS 17 will feature an all-new ringtone and text tone for devices.

"Reflection" will remain the default ringtone option. However, it has been joined by a number of new sounds, designed to be longer and a bit more contemporary than the previous ones.

There are also the typical abstract names like "Breaking," "Milky Way," "Valley," and "Sprinkles."

Ardent fans of old ringtones will not be left out either: the latest ringtones in iOS 17 will be accessible from the "Sounds and Haptics" menu, but the old ringtones will still be there. You will need to find the "Classics" section.

The same goes for text tones, with 10 new sounds to choose from. That way, you can set your text or notification to one of the brand new sounds that hasn't been around long enough to drive people crazy. Seriously, is it such a bad idea to mute your phone when you are with others?

The old sounds are still there, but they have been moved to the "Classic" menu. So if you are feeling nostalgic for the old iOS text tones, you can choose a more familiar sound rather than accepting the inevitable change, even if such a thing is possible.

iOS 17 is scheduled to arrive on September 18, four days before the iPhone 15 is released. those running the iOS 17 beta can enjoy these new tones now, but those who are not, and have no intention of upgrading to the iPhone 15, should be aware of what happening and don't have to wait too long to see what else iOS 17 has to offer and enjoy the other new features.

These include a new StandBy mode, offline maps, new interactive widgets, a contact poster, NameDrop and other AirDrop upgrades, Live Voicemail, the ability to call Siri without saying "hey" first along with new ringtones and text tones if you so desire.
