7 of the best movies and shows Taylor Swift fans can stream online

For nearly two decades since country-turned-pop star Thayer Swift rose to fame, fans have been basking in the memories of the once-in-a-decade VMA artist and pop culture icon, who not only made her mark on the music industry, but also on Hollywood. She has made waves. With appearances in movies, cameos on television shows, and more than a few songs on soundtracks, Swift has created a whirlwind in the film industry just as she has created a whirlwind in the music industry.

Swift's journey in film dates back to 2010, when she appeared in "Valentine's Day" with Taylor Lautner. Since then, she has participated in concert films, documentaries, and other on-screen projects to keep her fans on their toes. And she will release her film "Eras Tour" next month.

While it may take some time to hit streaming services, Swifty is fortunate to have other content available to watch online. Here are some of the best movies and TV shows for Taylor Swift fans to watch.

Taylor Swift's huge reputation was larger than life during her Reputation Stadium Tour. And for fans who couldn't get tickets, post-Reputation Swifties, and those who want to relive the glory days, the concerts will be available long after the 2018 shows. Swifty and his friends did not have to wait long to see the tour on screen. The film was released in 2018.

The epic two-hour film boasts impressive effects and choreography that goes on and on and is arguably Swift's flashiest tour before the Eras tour. The album failed to win a Grammy, but it is a fan favorite record among Swifties, who view it as Swift's battle cry against her longtime critics and haters. Swift moved on from "Shake it Off" to "Bad Blood" and fans became "Ready For It." The concert film, directed by Paul Dugdale, also features cameo appearances by Camila Cabello, Charlie XCX, and Tiffany Haddish.

Taylor Swift put everyone's pandemic productivity to shame: not only did she produce two 17-track albums in 2020 ("Folklore" and "Evermore"), but in 2021, she also produced "Red" and "Fearless" She re-recorded her own versions of "Red" and "Fearless" in 2021. She also directed a short video, All Too Well: The Movie, that year.

But wait. It's not over yet. To coincide with the release of Folklore, Swift participated in a documentary/concert film documenting the making of the Pandemic album. The Disney Plus film also includes a more chilling live recording of Folklore, which she released on vinyl on Record Store Day 2023.

Naturally, the documentary takes place at Long Pond Studios, the recording studio in the woods of the Hudson Valley where she recorded the album and documentary with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff. What's even more impressive is that Swift herself directed the film. Swift himself directed the film.

Until the Netflix documentary, Swift had been fairly silent about the cost of her fame. By the time Reputation was released, however, her loneliness and new lyrics revealed a darker, lonelier side to her star-studded life. It was not until 2020 that Swift opened the curtain to share that vulnerability with fans and critics, reclaiming her story from the gossip and headlines that had followed her for a decade.

In 2020, Swift released a Netflix documentary titled Miss Americana. The title is clearly a play on the expectations of fame and popularity with an accompanying dark side. Directed by Lana Wilson, the documentary covers everything from so-called fans stalking Swift's home, to her struggles with self-image and eating disorders, to her journey to becoming outspoken about politics, to how she writes songs.

OK, so "Cats" is definitely not the most acclaimed film of 2019; the CGI alone had fans blasting the film before its release. But whether or not the graphics make you giggle, Swift poured his love for cats while bringing his character, Bombalina, to life. The film features A-list talent such as Idris Elba, Jason Derulo, Judi Dench, and James Corden.

Swift did not have the biggest role in the film, but her biggest contribution comes in one of Swift's most underrated songs: "Beautiful Ghosts." Swift teamed up with Andrew Lloyd Webber, the creator of "Cats," to write the song for Victoria (Francesca Hayward) and reprise it for Judi Dench (Deuteronomy Old Man). Swift gets her chance to shine with her own song as her recording of "Beautiful Ghosts" plays during the film's end credits.

Taylor Swift's third record, "Speak Now," will be given its true value in the season two finale of the FOX hit "New Girl." The series centers on Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, who moves into an apartment with three men after a terrible breakup. In Season 2, Jess's best friend Cece (Hannah Simone) sets her family up on a blind date, but let's just say the sparks never flew.

After Cece bails out the groom, Swift has a "Speak Now" moment when she asks Elaine, played by Swift, to "marry me." Elaine tells him that she writes about him in her diary every night, a reference to the many diaries that have fueled Swift's career as a songwriter. She dramatically suggests they elope, and he carries her out of the venue. Despite its relatively brief cameo, this scene has achieved meta-icon status. The episode "Elaine's Big Day" was even named after Swift's role.

It is impossible to think of "The Summer I Got Clean" without Taylor Swift. The series is essentially a love letter to this diva. The Prime Video series follows a summer love triangle between Berry (Laura Tan) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Brinley) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

Swift songs such as "Bigger Than the Whole Sky," "False God," "Sweet Nothing," "Cruel Summer," and "Lover" are interspersed throughout the show. The series also used "August" to preview then-unreleased songs such as "This Love (Taylor's Version)" and "Back to December (Taylor's Version)" with promotional material. Basically, if you want to see a lot of Swift's Easter eggs, "The Summer I Turned Pretty" is a show you should watch and follow on social media.

Swift doesn't have to appear in every movie or TV show that has influenced her. Some of her best film moments have come from her involvement in soundtracks; in 2012, Swift wrote two songs for the apocalyptic YA film The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.

Her song "Safe & Sound" was released as a single a month before the film's debut; "Safe & Sound" does not appear in the film itself, but plays during the film's end credits. The single also won a Grammy Award for Best Song in the Visual Media category. Meanwhile, Swift's song "Eyes Open" also appears on the film's soundtrack.

A decade later, Swift wrote the song "Carolina" for the film adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing; "Carolina" was nominated for multiple awards and won the MTV Movies & TV Award for Best Song. Like "The Hunger Games," Olivia Newman's film is a coming-of-age story. This time, however, it revolves around an orphan accused of murder in the Deep South.
