iPhone 15 Pro supports ray tracing - all games on the new iPhone

The recently concluded Apple event focused primarily on the new Apple Watch 9 and iPhone 15. But we also got a fascinating glimpse of what games are coming to the A17 Pro-powered iPhone 15. And they are not simple mobile games, but serious, up-to-date titles that demand graphics.

At the event, we got to see "The Division Resurgence" for the iPhone 15. I already knew that this mobile-only game was coming to the iPhone, so this was not a big surprise. What came as a surprise was Apple's announcement of remakes of "Resident Evil Village" and "Resident Evil 4" for the iPhone. Judging by the scant footage shown during the event, both of Capcom's survival horror games are beautifully recreated on the iPhone 15.

A debatable showstopper was the announcement of Assassin's Creed Mirage coming to the iPhone. Why is this a big topic? Because this is the first Assassin's Creed game to run natively on iOS. It should be just as enjoyable when played on the iPhone.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 15 will open on Friday, September 15, but you'll have to wait a while to play all the games mentioned above. Resident Evil games will be released later this year, including "Death Stranding," which was also announced at today's event. Assassin's Creed Mirage will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on October 5, but will not be available on the iPhone 15 until early 2024; no word yet on when The Division Resurgence will appear.

I'm not much into mobile gaming, but even I'm intrigued by what Apple promises to bring to the iPhone 15: the performance upgrades and ray tracing capabilities of the A17 Pro chip will, as Apple claims, "challenge high-end desktop While I am skeptical that the A17 Pro chip's performance upgrades and ray tracing capabilities will "challenge the high-end desktop PC" as Apple claims, the fact that Apple is making such a bold claim is fascinating.

It shouldn't be long before we can test some of the upcoming games on the iPhone 15. And of course, stay tuned for reviews of all the products Apple unveiled at the event.
