Spotify's "daylist" is the latest playlist feature from the music streaming giant, designed to further enhance the personalized feel of one of the best music streaming services.

Unlike Spotify's DJ feature, which launched earlier this year, it automatically generates music it thinks you'll like and inserts AI commentary between songs, much like radio. The playlist of songs is continuously customized, changing and evolving as you go about your day.

The daylist, which allows users to specify the type of activity, mood, and aesthetic and get a custom playlist in return, is perhaps best described as a personalized playlist that adapts and selects content based on specific times of the day. As Spotify puts it, "Throughout the day, your mood changes, and so does the music you listen to."

Spotify's newest tool launched earlier today (September 12) and is already available to free and premium subscribers in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Spotify says it will "continue to evolve this experience and bring it to even more users in the coming months."

I immediately jumped on Spotify to see what all the fuss was about for the Daylist. There, I discovered a whole new playlist on the home screen of my Spotify account and immediately began streaming the playlist on my Sonos Era 300 speakers, which I use regularly in my home office to listen to the best space audio tracks. music system that I use regularly to listen to the best space audio tracks in my home office.

My first daylist playlist featured instrumental movie soundtracks. I love the dynamic energy that comes from listening to an orchestra enlivened by Hans Zimmer's film music, and this daylist was a good representation of my musical (and cinematic) tastes.

Some of the songs I had no doubt heard several times on music streaming services, and some were in my Spotify library, but many were completely new to me. I don't know exactly whether it's normal for me to listen to movie music in the late afternoon or this style of music, but every one of the 50 songs on the playlist hit the spot and miraculously fit my mood while writing Spotify clearly has my listening habits It knows my listening habits. More than I could have imagined.

So far, this playlist is a "pure" playlist of sequential songs, with no AI commentary. It feels intelligently personalized and dynamic, and I confess I am very impressed that it has become my new favorite music discovery tool on Spotify.

On desktop and web, simply search for "daylist" to see the playlist. daylist is updated multiple times a day, and the next updated date can be found on the mobile playlist page.

If you like a particular daylist playlist, tap the three-point menu, scroll down to "Add to Playlist" and tap "New Playlist" to save and make a copy. It will be saved in your library. (Note: Do not delay, as if you do not save it before the next daylist update, it will disappear with the wind)
