New Galaxy S24 Price Details Revealed - Bad News for Ultra

We are less than a month away from the rumored launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24, and the extensive rumor list has given us a pretty clear idea of what to expect from the upcoming line of flagship phones. However, predictions regarding the Galaxy S24's price are clearly under a cloud.

The latest rumor comes from a Dutch news site called GalaxyClub, which lists estimated prices for all three Galaxy S24 models in Europe. According to the report, the Galaxy S24 starts at EUR 899 and the Galaxy S24 Plus at EUR 1,149. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is also listed at €1,449. As with last year's Plus and Ultra models, the base Galaxy S24 Plus and Ultra models are expected to come with 256GB of storage, while the Galaxy S24 will have 128GB.

The price listed by GalaxyClub looks complicated when compared to the price of the Galaxy S23 in Europe. According to the site, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be more expensive than its predecessor, as the Galaxy S23 Ultra started at €1,399. The S24 and S24 Plus, on the other hand, will be cheaper than the previous model, starting at EUR 949 and EUR 1,199, respectively.

This new report is quite a contrast to the pricing rumors from just a few weeks ago. In that report, Twitter leakers reported that Samsung has decided to use an Exynos 2400 chip instead of the more expensive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 silicon in some models to be released in some markets, based on which the Galaxy S24's price remained unchanged from last year, he noted.

Just because the Galaxy S24 Ultra is more expensive in Europe does not necessarily mean that American shoppers will pay more. Because handset makers tend to set prices by region, Samsung could be headed in a completely different direction regarding the U.S. price of its new handset. Incidentally, the Galaxy S23 starts at $799 for the standard model, with the Plus and Ultra versions at $999 and $1199, respectively.

The Ultra's price increase is oddly timed, given that Apple, Samsung's main rival in the cell phone market, has raised the price of its iPhone 15 Pro Max. That phone is now priced about the same as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, eliminating the advantage that Apple once enjoyed over Samsung's best phones.

We expect more pricing details to emerge before the rumored launch of the Galaxy S24 lineup, and most observers expect a Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17. Samsung has yet to send out invitations for any product announcements in the New Year.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to see the biggest changes in Samsung's upcoming release, with the handset maker reportedly using titanium for the phone's frame and adding a higher-resolution telephoto camera. With Samsung's introduction of generative AI to its flagship smartphone lineup, all three models are expected to receive a boost from AI-powered features.

One feature that apparently will not be included in the Galaxy S24 is the ability to connect to satellites and send emergency messages. Samsung was expected to add such a feature after its debut with the iPhone 14 in 2022, but ETNews reports that the test unit Samsung is using to check compatibility with Korean wireless providers It claims that it appears to be.
