U.S. cell phone buyers will have multiple OnePlus phones to choose from in early 2024. In addition to the OnePlus 12, which launched in China earlier this month, the OnePlus 12R will also be available in the US.

This is not mere speculation; it comes straight from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. Prior to Lau's comments, we knew that both OnePlus 12 models would appear at the global launch event on January 23, but it was unclear in which countries the OnePlus 12R would ship.

Lau recently held a "fireside chat" with other executives to confirm plans for the OnePlus 12R launch. According to 9to5Google, "In addition to India, we will be launching the OnePlus 12R in North America, Europe, and other parts of the world this time," Lau said during the chat. 'Regardless of where people live, they will have the opportunity to experience the OnePlus R series. So the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R will soon be available worldwide."

This move is an important change in strategy for OnePlus, which previously limited the R models to China and India. However, after OnePlus recently stated that it plans to launch the OnePlus 12R in Europe, a U.S. launch was confirmed and expected to follow.

Consider the OnePlus 12R a lower-priced version of the OnePlus 12, with some features scaled back to achieve a lower price. 12R is said to have a number of great features, including a 6.7-inch OLED display, up to 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. OnePlus will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that powers this year's Android flagship models. Based on the already announced specs of the OnePlus 12, another OnePlus phone should feature a 6.8-inch OLED display, along with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 silicon. It will have up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, a 48MP sensor instead of the 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom The OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12 will share the same 50MP main camera.
